I did it myself. $40 for the clamp from the Vw stealer, bit of left over pipe off the shelf and a grinder with a slitting disc. Badabim badaboom and Voila, after an hours work it's all done. If anyone wants to hear what it's like tonight, let me know and we can meet up. I'm free until about 9pm-ish. Might go for a quick spritz too...

How likely are you to get a defect notice for noise on this mod?

I would say about a 2% chance because its not really that much louder, it only really frees up the burble and the ignition cut fart.

What happens whit the guaranty on the car when you delete the muffler? And is it possible to reinstall the original later?

sdrablos, welcome to the community. It will not affect your warranty at all. If the Vw dealership tries to tell you otherwise, go to another dealership.
You can reinstall it if you like, depending on how you remove it and where you make the cut in the exhaust pipe. It would be very easy to weld some exhaust flanges onto the muffler and also the cut pipe to allow you to bolt it back in.

this is what i plan to do with mine, put flanges on new piece and old piece to make it interchangable. might cost a bit extra, but will only take 10min to swap back over

Have you had a look at how much room ou have under there first? because there is a reason i didn't use the flanges I made up for mine

If there wasn't the chance of making a boo boo in another users car I wouldn't have a problem doing it but for the kind of money people are paying to get this done at proper exhaust shops, it would cost you a couple of dollars less for me to do it for you, plus having a hoist comes in very very handy for doing it!

I haven't even looked underneath this car so can someone clarify which muffler/resonator gets removed as some posters are saying front and some saying middle.

I'm booked in at Taylor Made Exhausts in Melton...yes it's a small drive but I'm going there because this guy comes recommended by a mate who's had two cars done for $80 each.

Let me play the guinea pig here before anyone commits as I would hate to give a recommendation only for the experience to be a failure or disappointment.
