If you are after Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 215 40 R17 Tyres, KMart have quite a few in stock. $191.00 fitted and balanced as a guide on price. Not sure if that includes old tyre disposal.

Did you both buy brand new? maybe they changed the MY12.5 spec, but Motor in their Banf-For-Buck awards listed Dunlop SP Sport MAXX as the factory tyre.

Interesting, my Feb MY12.5 has the SportMaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx's (I think thats how many Dunlop use)

It's quite hard finding a tyre thats placed in any recent tyre shootout in the Polo GTIs size (215/40/R17).

You can get older tyres such as the SportMaxx TT (replaced by RT now) and Conti Sport Contact 3 (Replaced by 5)

LOL, Did I buy brand new? Er, yes... waited months for the car to be delivered... landed in August, one of the last 12.5s, a week or so later the MY13s landed. Seeing as the othe RE050s is also a NSW car, maybe Bridgestones are fitted to cope with the NSW roads, or a new sub ADR, called NSWDR! LOL!

To date, there are four tyres VW has homologated (approved for factory fitment) for the Polo GTI:

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
Continental Premium Contact 2
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
Michelin Pilot Exalto 2

VW homologates several tyres for nearly all of their passenger vehicles, so it is not uncommon to receive a different set of tyres on the same model.
