I'm just happy that there's a factory installed 9W7 unit sitting under the seat, so I just have to figure out how to remote the touch adapter and enjoy the 9W7 with the 2012 RNS510 I bought

Wow. If they did this on a Cherry or Great Wall people would laugh so to see it on a VW is embarrassing.

        RE: BLUETOOTH ADAPTOR/CRADLE INSTALLATION

I have now received the info today from VGA that I've been waiting to have confirmed.
Unfortunately it's not what I had hoped to hear

Both the wiring and cradle installation is done during production which of course includes the hole drilled in the dash.....
So.....we are all stuck with this thing being installed and mounted in the same stupid place on the dash, like it or not.
the only think Patricks do is stick the touch screen into the cradle (this lines up with the MY12/12.5. Bulletin I saw which stated the touch screen would be sent separately)....guess that's so no nibble fingers flog it at the wharf etc?

If the cradle had been attached with double sided tape (dealership misinformed me or VAG have changed that) at least we may have been able to move it, but the old hole drilled into the dash has stuffed that up nicely huh

Any chance that someone's found this on the VW website? Seems to still have the 2011 brochure

Wonder if there is anyone out there that could produce a dash strip that covers up the hole and runs along the top of the glove box? Something that looks standard, in a silver, or a piano black, or even covered in leather with the GTI red stitching.

                  Well that is JUST STUPID!

How dumb to have TWO forms of Bluetoothe interaction- the RCD510 AND This stupid tacky thingy.

OR, have I misunderstood?.... Does the POLO GTI RCD510 bluetooth work differently to a unit in say a GOLF GTI?

Can I just ignore this tacky thing and pull it off? (carefully of course)

The hole left behind if the cradle is removed is quite substantial. Any form of covering it will look quite obvious. It actually looks like a section of the dash has been cut out.

Has anyone confirmed that this is dealer fit? if so then im sure we could ask them not to fit it, or put it somewhere else perhaps? if you dont need to actually touch it but do need it connected, then maybe we can get then to wrap it in something the just plug it in and leave it tucked under the dash perhaps?

It's pre delivery fit and the service manuals show where to mount it. Dealer has no say in where it fits.

I expect they do look here, but you could email them the link... but i doubt they will do anything... which is annoying as there isnt many (compared to other models) of these cars each year and they really should get this right as its not as seamlessly integrated as we expect from VW.

I think the addition of fitting the BT as standard was a 'quick fix' to stop it being an extra when the other competitor cars had it included. But as someone said before, I understand the unit that has been fitted specifically says its not for the GTI model on the box. Now that makes it a very strange choice... but what makes it a stupid choice is that there is already a BT unit in the car that almost works properly with the radio and car. Really VW should have spent some R&D time to integrate that unit fully (and perhaps there is a better unit that can be bought off the shelf) rather than this 'half fix' which also leaves a hole in the dash...

                              C'mon VW... solution this properly!

Of course, thinking about it, we could always start a petition... i wonder if VWA would listen then?

Been there, tried that via my contact at VGA, right down to either fitting it low down or not fitting it at all as rather not have Bluetooth than have this ugly thing attached to the dash,

Apparently the adaptor cradle is factory fitted along with the wiring, then the adaptor is sent seperately and just slotted in pre delivery.
Such a cheap tacky add on that doesn't even need to be in the GTI model because of the second unit under the drivers seat, but thanks to VAG, they seem to have carried the same configuration throughout the Polo models fitted with Bluetooth...what were they thinking (not)

VGA do already know what customers think of this cheap setup, I was told they have already had calls on this.
My salesperson originally told me the unit was attached by double sided tape....I then informed them it wasn't and would you believe the last time I talked to this person about the hole in the dash, again they said its attached with double sided tape cause they delivered one
that day to a customer....say what!!!!! Again, I, the customer told them this is incorrect.

Then they wonder why we have no faith in them....go figure
