I use BG equipment and really like the results.

Does petrol and diesel, cleans EGR in the diesels and their chemicals continue to clean even after combustion. Expensive but worth every cent.

    Set up in my T5

Yes it is. It’s a perfect addition to my Interject injector cleaning machine. I got it just a week ago after researching the market for a while. The results are really good. I still have to make the adaptor for it to be able to use it properly on the VW TDI's due to the clip on the T/Body. The diesel system has electronic box with the injector that is pulsed - there are 2 settings. The atomization and consistency (coverage/sprad) of the chemical is vital, that's why you don't get the same results from the spray cans. My son's in law RS Octavia TSI is close to 30,000km and I will make sure that I have a lot of time for the service to take some pictures of the engine internals, just wish that Snap-on bore scope camera (it takes video too) was higher resolution, ah well, maybe it's the time to upgrade it as well.

just got a call from my VAG dealer and apparently the car has carbon deposits in the injectors ($220 to flush) and throttle body ($120)

does this sound right for a car that has just ticked over 5400km or can it wait until the annual service in october, by which time i'd be lucky to have done 6000km?

            Sounds like a money grab.

I'd ask him how he ascertained that carbon was an issue. Ask in writing and ask that his reply be in the same format. The only way of inspecting these items would be by removing spark plugs & intake pipes & visually inspecting using a borescope.

After receiving their reply, I would then contact VWAU & ask them to pay for the repair.

Truly, find a new service centre. You are dealing with crooks.

You'd have to ask yourself what mechanic would do that much work (which isn't part of the service) to find out there were all these deposits etc BEFORE asking the customer who may then refuse to go through with the cleaning job.

              It's therefore a con.

yea i'm a bit suss. if it was $100 or so i probably would have just done it but $340??

i assume you can't simply unplug the injectors on a polo like you can on some other cars?

By a bottle of Nulon Total Fuel System Cleaner & use as per instructions. it's <$20 & will clean the injectors as good as what the dealership will do.

I'll make an assumption that you already use a brand name 98ron fuel?

And if there is infact a carbon buildup issue after only 5,400km - then VW can kindly rectify the issue under warranty.

                          Agreed.
As far as the injectors are concerned, they shouldn't be suffering from carbon buildup, considering the type of fuel used and the low mileage.
