  • VW Australia Customer Service now managing Polo GTi order wait enquiries and updates

A few weeks ago my dealer notified me via SMS VW Australia would set up a web site system to help customers track their progress during the extended delays in delivery. I guess the dealers no longer want to take the heat from consumers constantly nagging for progress.
Today I received a courtesy call from VW Australia customer care to confirm some details and contact information and notify me that they will be keeping me regulary updated of any progress from now on, they got an email contact from my so i assume it'll be simple email updates.
They said this was for Polo GTI orders only, i was also informed that the production capacity has now been increased by 2.5times and he assured me I would therefore not be waiting for ever. I guess they mean future production capacity, I very much doubt those extra built slots will be anytime soon.
It's good to see that VW australia has taken some central action to manage peoples delays and I hope that this new point of contact provides more useful and timely information to us all.

If anyone else has had similar contact or updates from VW Australia it would be good to know and to compare.

    Hey Karl

Thanks for this info. My GTI is on the boat at the moment (due at the end of the month) so it'll be interesting to see if they get in contact with me. Given it's relatively close, I wouldn't be surprised, or overly worried, if they don't.

Out of interest, which dealership did you order yours through and when were you expecting delivery? Ordered mine through the Gerald Slaven.

Lucky bugger, I ordered 4months ago, I'll be riding my bicycle around for a long while yet. I'll be the one in the Lycra shivering giving you dirty looks. Nah, just kidding. I ordered from lennock, this seems to be a new initiative for people on later orders, we'll all be waiting a long while unless this extra polo capacity is really coming on line.
Look out for jealous looking cyclists, I may try car jack u.

I got my call today. Exact same questions and info given, I was told production was at 3.0x. Funny thing was I rang my dealer on Saturday and was given a date for early January 2011. I told the VW guy this and he seemed surprised. The VW guy said my car was awaiting a production slot. Should i be worried my dealer is telling fibs ? I have been given a NADCON screen cap from my dealer showing hand over to production and departure from port dates but there is no start of body shell shop date. Should i be worried that in 5 months i have another 5 to wait ?

The people who have received calls from VW Australia, perhaps just reply back with when they placed their order? That way we can get an idea of after which date people ordered are getting these care calls.

              Cheers,
              Michael

I think you answered your own question there mate

Untill the littel "dot" has been past the dates on the NADCON screen dump, they are all just estimates based on a certain, usual time frame of how long it takes for them to build the car, that's all. If you're lucky like Frostee, GTI Joe and I, it happens before those dates. If not, well you know what happens then.......

I ordered in March. The ''estimate'' in NADCON tells me 5 months. So the chances of getting the car then is good, remote, unlikely ?

5 months until they start building the car? or 5 months until the car is expected to be in Australia?

I ordered my GTI in mid February and I haven't received a call from VW Australia yet. Although I purchased mine as a fleet sale through a broker so I might not be on VW's customer list. My last update from the dealer was in early July with no ETA dates on NADCON as yet. Time to chase up another update...

Ordered mine in late April. Received a call 3 days ago. Came up as private number, they had my surname incorrect, claimed they were from VW Australia. Wanted my email details. I told them that all the information they wanted should have been available from the dealer, Denlo. Makes you wonder who's talking to whom. Very unprofessional, I refused to give details and asked for a call-back number. Rang through and the initial automated response was a blurb from VW Australia, eventually got onto the same guy that called me originally. I gave my details and asked him a few questions, he couldn't elaborate on anything, not even an expected delivery.
