My car was built 3 weeks ago and it was loaded on the boat on 5 October and I'm yet to get a call from VGA to tell me that! They're not very efficient (for a German company.....lol)

Don't expect to get another update from them, (even though they say they'll keep you updated every step of the way). I had to just constantly enter my VIN onto the tracking website until it popped up to know that it got on the boat. When the boat got to Boston, my dealer rang me and said its due to land in Melbourne on the 17th, so the stock controller at their work must be doing a track every 1 or 2 weeks....Originally posted by prcurrie View PostMy car was built 3 weeks ago and it was loaded on the boat on 5 October and I'm yet to get a call from VGA to tell me that! prcurrie, are you on the Carmen? No you aren't, just saw your post about the grand mercury in another thread. Out of interest i never heard anything from VW after the initial email to say my car was being built sometime in the next 5 weeks. I sent an email requesting information which they replied to, suggesting my best port of call would be the dealer!

Haha Gavs! I'm sure head office has some impact on their values and methodologies. Maybe not!!
Coolio. Yeah, mine is on Grand Mercury. It's just off the coast of Spain and headed to South Africa. The last I heard from VGA was the email saying it would be built within the next 5 weeks....blah blah blah.
My dealer has been a lot better since I cracked it a while back. They're keeping me informed which is nice.Polo GTI - 5 door - Candy White, Xenons, Comfort Package, Audio Upgrade, Bluetooth, Parking Sensors and Tint

I rang the VW Australia hotline again today. No change with the order at "dealer spec" still awaiting a production date.
My dealer emails me weekly stating they are still expecting a late Feb 2012 delivery, but on the phone VW Aus wouldn't comment on any ETA possibilities. Starting to get a little peeved that after 8 months of waiting, my order is no different or further advanced from when I first placed my deposit.
Surely a little progression isn't too much to ask for...MkV GTI Pirelli | APR tune

That's not good news
I thought my order still being at DLR after 4.5 mths was starting to feel pretty ordinary but after reading your post,
well, it doesn't fill me with much confidence, even though my dealership emails every 3 weeks saying still on track for
April delivery, so yes same status as if I had walked into dealership yesterday and placed an order.
So this still means Germany haven't even picked the order up yet, after 8 mths this just seems wrong on every level
considering there's still a few stages to get through once they do.
Really sorry to hear this.... FWIWLast edited by GTI mk6; 17-10-2011, 04:17 PM.Current ride..MY10 Golf MkVI GTI | 5 dr | CW | < DSG >| Leather| Dynaudio | Sensors | Tint | R tails

Similar story for me. Ordered in April - 5 door black, bixenons, comfort. Still at dealer spec. No updates from VWA after initial email. Periodically, when I'm waiting in traffic or the like in my current drive - the "not so" Swift (surely new toy has to be called the Pogo!) - I ring them and ask for an update. Last call was about a week ago. I got the standard call us in a few weeks and we might have updated information (but were very vague on either the frequency with which they receive updated information or when they last received some). After I pushed a bit more they told me that I should contact my dealer. This suggestion was accompanied by some vague implication to the effect that my dealer might be able to find something out when they could not.

Don't give up guys, based on when your orders went through (and people probably cancelling due to not wanting to wait or getting wind of all the potential issues) you might be still on track. The change from dealer spec to "Current SGW Determination" happens pretty much instantly without all the steps in front on the NADCON screen really happening. Then, within a month, then you will potentially have a car being built
After a run through some of my favourite roads with the turbo, induction note and exhaust roarting back at me off the cliff wall on my left, sheer drop on the right, smooth roads, a sequence of 2nd gear switchbacks, quickly into 3rd, then briefly fourth, brake hard, back 2 gears, turn in and do it all again..... Trust me, anyone doubting I invite you to come on a ride with me and I will show you why the wait is worth it

Phoned up VW customer care this morning and my spec is back to "ORDERED" - it was previously set to build week allocated - Week 51, but the rep advised that this week has now been removed from the order details and that I should phone back in 2 weeks when they are due for more updates from VW Germany.

VW Customer care still believe my car is in the middle of the ocean, when I know for a fact it has been discharged last night from the boat according to the wallenius tracking site. When I brought this information up they said that its pure speculation... ... ... speechless all i can do is... thank you, errrm for your .. help and hangup.

lol luckily the dude who sold me the car at the dealer is fairly onto it. Even sent me a Patricks autocare tracking print screen this morning. As soon as I figure out how to upload it I will, its only fairly basic checklist like check batteries, keys, owner manual etc and then off to pre delivery.

This e-mail I got today. Coinciding with a status update at Patrick Autocare dealer tracking saying "Ready for Transportation" but a week and 2 days after the car was discharged from the boat.
