  • Yeah. Ozram posted a thread here. He mistakenly called them Detroits in his post, but what he meant to say is that he bought some genuine 17" Denvers (for a Golf) and had them repaired (removed scuffing) and painted (both the black, and the silver over the repairs).

You can then see pictures of them fitted to his 118TSI here

      • Yep... that's exactly what the paint shops / wheel repairers would do.

To recondition (repair scuffs) and respray has cost some members around $600 to 700 in the past. If you have brand new Denvers and just needed them sprayed, it may cost quite a bit less. But doing it yourself would obviously be far cheaper...

              • So, has anyone with a GTI tried a 8 inch rim with et35? I am worried about strut clearance and rubbing of the lining.

Also, anyone want to buy a brand new set of GTI wheels and tyres?

                    • sorry for that
Rims are 17" Bellini Bella HB, fitted with 215/40/17 Falken ZE912 wich is a pretty low-noise tire because I cant stand road noise somehow.
On the picture its not very visible but it has huge wheel arc gaps now.. Once I move into my new house I wont need my car as much so I can go as low as I want

                      • Looks really good. What is the offset and width of the wheels? And have you got a shot to show how far in is it against the wheel arches? Thanks.

                        • width is 7J, ET38 I believe, give me a minute to take some shots outside

EDIT: done, just added the links because I dont want to overload everyone with full size pictures

                          front wheel, 3 cm clearance:

rear wheel, +- 5 cm clearance (photo taken on angle):

taken directly above rear wheel, 3 cm outward (does that word exist?) clearance:

                          from a small distance:

enjoy this is WITH the OEM sports suspension by the way, so its 1,5 cm lower than normal
