Phoned up VW today after getting my comission number from my dealer and they advised my car was being built in "Week 50" which means it should be in WA in early February.

This is much better than what I was epecting (May/June!)

However it is still 5 months away Time to find some new distractions....

Isn't week 50 the week before Xmas? Wouldn't it be pushing it for a car built then the be shipped to Australia by Feb considering all the off time during the xmas/ny period?

Nope, it went via the US. Landed just before midday on Monday Not long to go now!

after sending a follow up email to my dealer i received the response below:

your car is currently on a boat heading towards Australia and is due on the 19/9 this car may be deliverable in September, but may also creep into October, but we ll see as things happen.

The car is on vessel – CO121 – Tombarra.

is anyone else's car on this boat?

the weird thing though is it still not coming up with anything in track and trace.

MY11 or MY12

Hey guys after reading through I noticed some of u receiving building slots from your dealer. I assume if I contacted my dealer considering I ordered my car back in May, that they should know my building slot by now? Also how would you determine if your car would be marked MY11 or MY12? I noticed somewhere that productions start Week 29/11 so mid July 2011 and after for MY12 models is that correct??

That's correct.... anything built from now is going to be a MY12

I drove past the Fremantle docks on Monday and I did notice a distinct European grouping of vehicles. Amongst the Range Rovers and Audis was a collection of VWs including polos....

I hope the GTIs are amongst them....

Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster! I'm interested to know how long people have been waiting who have ordered their cars early to middish this year?

I put my deposit down on the 26th of May, and was advised at the time it would be Q1/Q2 of 2012. I ordered from Osborne Park Volkswagen and so far it has been like trying to get water out of Uluru to get updates from them. I got an update today advising that they will get "updates on stock soon", but nothing more concrete than that.

My order was bog standard 3 door white Polo GTI with the bi-xenon headlights & RCD510.

Can't wait!

Edit: I was also advised by John Hughes VW last week that for new orders for WA now it is a 26 month wait!

Is that for the GTI only?

I rang up John Hughes a month ago and they said the wait on the TSI is 5 months, then I headed over to DVG Melville and they managed to organise a flash red 77tsi for me with an ETA of early September! Im beginning to feel super lucky for scooping up 1, cant believe 26 months jeeeeeez

I received my Vin Number yesterday and found out my car will be MY12. I tried to trace it on the website provided on this forum as my dealer said my car is on the water as we speak and is due to arrive here on the 5th October, but when I typed my VIN in the Cargo ID it keeps coming up no record found is there something I may be doing wrong?

If it's not showing as having a record when you enter it into the cargo field, your dealer is (surprise surprise) lying to you and it's not on the water. YOur tracking record will generally show up within the first day of it being scanned onto the boat, sorry dude but you're dealer is riding you
