Tracking Progress on your Polo and Polo GTI

I was looking at my car in the sunlight this afternoon and the side windows looked acidly dark seriously they looked tinted. I"ll take some pics tomorrow and post them, but having driven the car today (was a lovely sunny day in Melbourne) I'm pretty much decided that I won't get tinting.

I was under the impression I had no tint as well but there is definately a little darkness there. When I spoke to the guy at tint-a-car he stated the VW glass in some instances does have a slight tone IN the glass, as opposed to tint ON the glass.

Either way I got mine with the care .

People are mostly nicer in Perth than Melbourne - there's no way I'd have got that for free.

It came with the USB cable, but the iPod one was extra - VW are asking $100+

Nah, you're just doing it wrong.
I always have a laugh to myself when I see people try and put their left hand over their right shoulder to grab the seatbelt in a 3 door. The trick is to sit "normally" in the seat, and put your right hand down and back beside the seat to grab the seatbelt from low down. Then there is zero strain on any part of your body - even less than grabbing the seatbelt with your left hand over your right shoulder in a 5 door!

You're probably right, that would cause the least strain... but it's unnecessary in my five door. Actually, I use neither technique, but rather use my RIGHT hand OVER my right shoulder to grab the seatbelt, without discomfort - at least in the 5 door...

Hmm,
So car is in Melbourne. Dealer still saying 4+ weeks. Dealer also giving me strange answers to simple questions.

Do all cars coming to Adelaide land in Melbourne then get shipped overland to SA? How does that work? Trying to work out roughly when to expect car if dealer has told me week 34 build date.

My car is on the way from South Africa. First port of stop is Freo then on to Melbourne. I have no idea if that means there are no Adelaide orders on the ship, or if there are then they are dropped of in Melbourne and then transported to Adelaide overland.

Picked it up this morning - absolutely love it. It's better than I remember when I test drove.

Just to confirm a few things;

1. there is no privacy glass
2. the climate control aircon illuminates blue with black digits
3. under seat storage is there

Really love the sunroof.

Great to hear that it's even better than you remember, and so pleased to hear that
you love the sunroof......yet to see one in the flesh so a bit uneasy ordering one sight
unseen, but as we missed out on the Golf GTi, but having had one on the last 4 cars,
we decided as we have to wait for so long, let's do it

Can't wait to see some pics, any wind noise (whistlling, with the rood open?)
Interesting about the windows....will be good to see how dark they are as we were
going to get ours tinted.

My latest update was "the car was dispatched on wednesday but now we don't know where it is and the computer is showing we don't hav it yet...."

Also, the B-pillar is further back, so getting to the seatbelt is a bit harder for my ageing shoulder. Niggles, to be sure, but I made the right decision for me, with the 5 door.

What I do is hook the seat belt around the shoulder support section of the bucket seat whenever I exit the vehicle, so that it's within easy reach when I get back in.

As mentioned many times before, you will be lucky to see it show up before 3 weeks after getting your VIN.

too many things on my plate today, have no commitments on Monday so will do it then so I'm not in a rush. Will be doing interior this afternoon - fabric protection and 303 aerospace on the the hard surfaced. Monday will be wash, claybar and nanolex sealant on both paintwork and glass.
