I've ordered a Polo 77TSI so it will come over from Port Elizabeth - I was just wondering, when it gets delivered to Australia, which sea port will it be delivered at? Freo or Port Kembla?

I'm guessing Melbourne. They all seem to stop there before coming to PK.

just reading back on some posts and would it be safe to say that you get the keys in your hand one week after vessel ETA? btw my car is on the Hoegh tranporter ETA into Port Kembla 11/09.

Hmm, not exactly sure on the timescale from off-boat to handover in Sydney. My car hit dry land on 7/8, ie last Tuesday. On Friday the dealer didn't have any news for me on his systems about when it was coming to him when I dropped in for him to value the trade in. He is going to ring me if he can deliver this week, and he told me I am priority as he wants my money this month (we go away later in the month for circa 2 weeks) and if its not this week then I dont need/want it until Sept, and he wont get paid until its delivered LOL). So, we shall see...

Car just landed at the dealer... 7days from leaving the boat to arriving at the dealer and then its however busy they are as the car goes in a queue for PDI etc.

Got an update from my dealer yesterday. Last time I spoke to them 3 weeks ago they said my car was scheduled to be built end of August and was due to arrive in country early November. Yesterday they replied to an email in which I was asking for prices on some dealer fit items and they casually drop in at the end that my car is already on a ship due to land at Port Kembla on 12th September. Bit of a WTF moment.
When I first started talking to them about ordering the car they set the expectation of at least 12 months. That dropped to 8 months after I ordered it and now it looks like it will be less than 6. I'm pretty happy with that

im sorta in the same situation as you JonW, if i dont get my car a week after it arrives then i wont be needing it till i get back from Holidays. but i see you will get your hands on it this weekend!

also Proximak, i think your car might be on the same boat as mine. mine is on the Hoegh Tranporter ETA into Port Kembla 11/09 Hi five if it is lol! one more thing you might want to check with your dealer as i have a feeling your car might be MY13 like mine!

Yep, that's the boat. Figured there must be a few other people on here with one coming in at the same time. I will have to check with the dealer on the MY13 front. That's the one with the Detroit wheels right?

I got told by my dealer that my GTI was due to arrive 12th September and I should be driving it by the end of that month. I got told as well that mine's a MY13 as well.

Probably too much. They pretty much refused to discount it because they said they sell their allocations so quickly that they don't need to. Only managed to get it with a few hundred off at just over $38k on road. I may have got it cheaper if I went to a dealer in Sydney but my local one is more convenient and they also added extended warranty to 6 years in the the price.

i hope mine is on that boat! they told me 4-6 weeks - i'd imagine the car happened to be available and dealer just selected it for their delivery... it is a 5dr white with bi xenon, hopefully find out during the week (ordered wed afternoon).

Spoke to the dealer today and mine has arrived. Scheduled to pickup this Friday at 4 pm. I live 25 minutes from the dealer but I have told my wife to expect it to be a 2 hour trip this time

Must have been on the same boat as mine, Elektra. Not sure what happened. 2 weeks ago they told me 6 - 8 weeks. Now it is sitting in the holding yard which is about 400m from my office. Unless I can convince the lease company to bring it forward I will have to look at it through a security fence until Nov 15. While the guys and girls were on a trip back to the wharf I snuck in and took a couple of happy snaps.
