My GTi is in AUS and was supposed to be arriving at the Dealer last friday, called that night and they said there was 2 trucks coming with cars and only 1 came which happened to be the one without my car They then said the truck will come Saturday though... No truck. Now told Monday for sure, i really hope this doesn't turn out to be one of those "Dealer BS stories" that drag on forever.
I'm way too excited, it's not healthy! Need car now!
Of course there's going to be the pre-delivery inspection and detail before it will be ready, they said 2 days for this.
But because i'm in Melbourne and i'm getting the car from NSW i have to toss up between flying and driving back or getting it delivered to me on a truck. Flights will be around $250 to get there as a have to take REX airlines as its rural NSW, then there's the 600-700kms i will put on the car plus around $100 in fuel and foods for the trip home, or i could get it delivered to me for around $300-400 (says the dealer).
Hmm what do you guys reckon?

If you've got the time and some extra $$$ then go for it. It will give you a great chance to get to know your new purchase.
Well, I'm in Melbourne, and I will be flying to Mildura to pick up my car when it eventually arrives. It will make a great breaking-in drive, plus the dealer might spice up the deal as well

I flew with my daughter to Melbourne from ACT and drove back. Just over one tank, two Macca stops, and grinning from ear to ear. You'l love it . Do the drive.

Joe, it sucks man, we aren't on the boat. I'd say the 26th is our boat, based on the regularity of melbourne shipments of GTIs, 2 weeks of sitting on th edocks seems to be the norm.
Shattered. There goes my holiday plans. 2 weeks sitting at a factory just to be shipped to sit at the docks for another 3 weeks....
Unlucky guys. I'd say based on the fact that Frostee and I were built about 2 weeks before you that perhaps your cars will ship about 2 weeks after ours? Just a guess though.
