  • Installed the GFB DV+ today : )

Installation was a bit of a pain as the oil breather (i think thats what it is) sits hard up against the electrical connector for the DV, had to loosen a few other items to get it to fit. Other than that install was easy.

Boost holds harder through gears and the car seems to pull harder. Clutches are slipping a bit now :/ - was bound to happen sooner or later

      • Damn been a while since I posted here!

Considering it's the Polos 3rd birthday (and that means the warrantee is gone bye bye) I thought I would start doing some things.

So first off some Bilstein B14 coilovers went in to replace the shockingly stiff H&R lowering springs - and to compliment that a whiteline rear sway bar was also fitted.

Then she went Stage 1 (Mmm all those torques) and got some black wheels and spacers to suit my black on silver theme - in all I think it's looking pretty smart

Mmm that flushness - and the liner bolt delete mod that goes with the scrubbing

Is it difficult to get that strip? I want to install one in glossy black, a subtil touch to my wife's GT.

Great! Please, can you explain a little more about your sound upgrade? I expect a poor sound quality when my wife's Blue GT arrives home.
              Thank U

The Factory sound system is not that bad, my job is in car audio sales.... So the system was not upto my standard. I basicly have replaced the splits in the front and added an amplifier with processor. I just wanted to show the tweeters off a bit better.

                • Bit more work done, this time it was easy....

A big thanks to Fastlane for the lights, but with a bit of VCDS trickery to make the bulb errors go away it worked a treat... And they look awesome!!! Even the wife approves...

                    • What have I done to the polo this week?

Had it towed to the local dealership with a gearbox that wet itself all over the road and subsequently fried the mechatronics unit, then had an argument with the service manager when he tried to blame it on my mechanic by saying that he serviced the gearbox at the 60,000 service and didn't seal it properly, and as this should not have been done at all i would need to take the repair up with him,

The gearbox was never serviced, the 7speed has no service schedule, absolute load of bull**** and a despicable attempt by southern classic cars to shift blame and pass on the responsibility. All this after the car was in there 5 weeks ago having the water pump replaced after it **** itself.

Once i provided the invoice for the last service, not containing anything to do with this so called gearbox service, they began to talk sense

A comment was also made about my arp stage 1 making things difficult as well due to the increased paperwork needed for VAG from the service department re. Warranty.....

No, the stage 1 hasn't made anything difficult, they haven't been able to blame a single thing on it, what HAS made things difficult is being without a car for the second time in 5 weeks!

Needless to say I'm looking for an alternative to the polo, any ideas?

                      • Had some new tyres fitted recently at around 40 500klms. Kumho KU39s in original sizes.

Much happier with them than the Dunlops. One of which got it's first sidewall bulge from hitting a pothole aparrently, at 18 000klms & was delegated to the rear. The next bulge on another tyre was at 26 000klms. Wasn't impressed with them at all, never have been by Dunlops.

The Kumhos feel more comfortable than the originals. Even though they are the same size as the Dunlops, they look a little wider across the tread & slightly larger overall which may account for the comfort. They seem to handle well in the dry but yet to give them a go in the wet.

                        • Must be my first post here... what have I done today... drove to work I suppose.

                          Recently however I have installed the following;

                          Gloss Black Mirror Caps
                          APR FMIC
                          Full JETEX Stainless Exhaust
                          Set of Falken ZE912

Dyno check this week with any luck.

Also, have ordered HP Air Filter and still waiting for APR Stage 2, fingers crossed it happens sooner than later.

                          • Exhaust is quieter than I thought it would be but it does get angrier as the revs climb... non resonating type (no centre muffler) and it pops loudly on gear changes.

The tune is definitely required and it feels like it needs more air in by the seat of the pants.

                            • The APR FMIC is huge compared to the standard version, hope it helps with cooler the charge. Looks like an awesome, fantastically designed and well built component.

                              • The Falkens hang on in the dry but already do not handle the torque in first, second and third.

Forget about them in the wet if pulling away firmly. Traction control on just thwarts any attempt to be smooth and turning it off is best.

They still maintain decent grip when thrown into corners and are much better than the original Dunlop ****e but I will not buy them again especially when I go stage 2.

I do run 42psi front and rear to prevent the outside edges wearing that happened to the original Dunlops... so that will not help the low speed wheelspin.

I think the compound may be slightly too hard.
