To then make things difficult, it's just on the rear window and rear side windows and is therefore hard to "colour" and "VLT" match (VLT = Visual Light Transmittence, and is the measure of how much light a tint lets through. In most states in Australia, the darkest legal is 35%. Lower %'s are illegal and darker).

Well, I would have been happy to go without tints at all but it came with the sports package. I'm also getting some sort of UV film - not sure exactly what it is, my partner negotiated the tinting and UV film for me. He insisted I get the sportspack whereas I justed wanted the sunroof (although I'm glad I went with the sportspack now because I like the bigger wheels and fog lights).

Out of curiousity, does anyone know if you can you order the sportspack without the tinting? Or do you then have to order all components of the sportspack separately minus the tinting and then it costs waaaayyyyy more then the whole lot combined?

        Anyway, hope that helps
        Sure did thanks Corey.

I'm afraid I don't have any closeups of mine, but here's the same one on a mate's car. Click me. Ordered it from here: Mangowalk.com - Mangowalk 3" Rubber Antenna Mast - Black - Rubber Antennas - Car Accessories . Fits nicely and no problems with reception.

They don't have it on their site, you have to email Damian. Price is a bit higher than the non-GTI items but yes, you don't pay VAC for export.

                • Just picked up a cheap 2 x 500W halogen worklight on tripod. $29 from Bunnings. Am going to use it to help see what I'm doing when doing the detailing of my paintwork.

                    29 you say....

                    /runs out to car

Actually, don't any more lights in the garage, have a metal halide i can move around/angle at the car to get some more detail... advantage of having a relative in the electrical industry

In other news, will be ordering my stuff from Car Care Products next week, looking more at the duragloss combo than the nanolex, emailed them and was told the duragloss would work better with the yellow, and some dodo juice , but that's personal preference... all comes down to if i can afford it... way... way to many bills... and other hobbies >>...

                    • Out of interest.... which duragloss and which dodo juice products?
Reason I ask is I bought Duragloss 105 ($15.95 473ml), Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild ($26 250ml) and Dodo Juice Supernatural ($40 250ml) car washes...

Guess which one is the best value...
                      The Supernatural, by far! lol

The Duragloss doesn't have a "dilution ratio" stated. But it says 3 caps per US gallon. I've measured 3 caps at 45ml. Which means 45ml to 3785ml of water. Or 1:84
The Born To Be Mild says that it dilutes 1:800, but it also says 2 to 4 capfulls per bucket, depending on size an water hardness. I have found that 3 caps works well with 15L of water, and that 3 caps is also 45ml. So that's 1:333
Supernatural says 1:1500 dilution ratio. It then says 1 pump per 3 litres. It has a pump head. I have found that 5 pumps (for 15L) is just below 10ml - thus easily making it's 1:1500 ratio.

In other words, per wash, on a 15L bucket:
                      Duragloss = $6.01
Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild = $4.68
                      Dodo Juice Supernatural = $1.60

Even if you get the Duragloss 1 US Gallon ("3.8"L version) for $64.95, that still works out to $2.99 per wash...

Was recommended by car care products (shot them an email a while ago) to use the Mint APC to clean off anything Ive use prior (been using whats left of what i had with the camry, just some professional meguires guff) and then was going to clay the car (dodo clay and born slippy), then wash again, then applying the 601 Polish Bonding Agent to the car, then straight away apply the Duragloss 105 Total Performance Polish and then buff off, and bobs your uncle, shes all sealed.

The Wash i was looking at for after it though was the Dodo Juice Supernatural, and from what you have said, kinda seals the deal for me >>... Was looking at the foam lances though , just for the novelty really hahaha

And also, from what Ive read, not really going to worry about applying a wax on top of the sealant, not much more benefit i think, but i can be and most likely am wrong about this >>

Also, very tempted to have the OEM Bushing put back into the rear engine mount... I'm starting to miss the nice quiet cabin

                        • Speak to the guys aty car care products, on your car, Dodo juice Banana somethingorother I think it is, is made for yellow cars and applying wax over the duragloss sealant can prolong the life of your protection, but instead of looking "plastic" on your yellow car, the wax changes the optical clarity of your protection, giving a warmer colour and not so lifeless White cars on the other hand, look better a bit more "plastic" hence the Nanolex path for me (and many others on white) which boosts the inherent lack of glossiness that seems to afflict white cars even though indeed they are glossy

                          • The wax gavs speakers of is Dodo Juice Banana Amour Hard Wax

If you prefer a soft wax, then you also have Dodo Juice Orange Crush Soft Wax. It's also specifically suited for warm colours (Red, Orange, Yellow) and will provide even more depth.

But I agree, if you want the nitty gritty, talk to CCP

Yes in my opinion it is. My car for example was parked for some 3 weeks at the wharf in the salt air after being manufactured and I have no doubt there is particulate contamination that has been waxed over. I for one will be washing my car on arrival with car shampoo with a good slug of dishwashing liquid to remove the wax, then I will then clay it all over and then apply Nanolex sealant. Each to their own but I don't have high confidence in a dealers preparation of a car. SOme people will think this is overkill, but it's a personal choice I guess.
