We had to wait for both cars and there is still more demand than supply, especially if you are particular on colour/options so I don't see things improving any time soon.

It's a game of chicken, step out when you feel comfortable!

I swear to god.... if VW delays my car any more I will lose the plot....

I ordered the god damn thing on 21 September 2010.... It was due in December 2010 but they couldn't supply a sunroof (even though when I ordered it VW Australia said they could).
Now it is due May 2011. If it gets delayed any further VW will have to supply compensation or something. Useless.

So both the Spanish factory and the South African factory have turned to krudd - As the GTI's are made in Spain?

I am telling you... if VW imported the Polo GTI in ONE spec rather than offering all these options then
dealers would order floor stock and the wait times would be reduced.

5 colours, 3 & 5 door, sunroof, comfortpack, HID, audio, pleather seats... calculate all the combinations and tell me if a dealer would even dare to choose a combination a buyer MAY want to buy off floor stock.

I am also not buying "world demand" Europe is a basket case for car sales ... Where else is VW selling the Polo GTi?

If Seat finally decided to come back to the bloody Australian Market i guarantee it VW would kick a stink and push production forward at a faster rate.

I'd like to agree with you on that but I have been unable to source a car in Sydney with the following specs

3 door - white or silver. I'll take one with no options, or I'll take one with comfortpack, or I'll take one with Audio pack.
Or I will take a 5 door in white with any of the above.
I thought that would be a sure thing... nope. LOL. Apparently I am too picky and should should take a dark blue 5 door with comfort pack and audio

I've always hated Red cars.... But the Red in the Polo looks quite nice. When I was 'having a fit' over my monochromatic obsession I almost went Red with the Black wheels/roof/mirrors.

Dark Blue to me looks a bit.... Bland.

Black is nice but having owned 10 or so Black cars before I swore never again.... Too hard to keep clean IMO.

You aren't asking for heaps of options so it's pretty poor form that there isn't one with those specs around.

With an official on sale date of 5 December, you can't actually 'order' before then, as dealers weren't able to submit orders, you basically end up in line with the rest of us.

You forget that VW is one of the only car manufacturers that increased sales in Europe in the past few years, even with demand outstripping supply?

$4K you'll never get back. If you are going for a trendline then I assume $$$$ are important.

I got the following:

Pepper Gray 77TSI Comfortline Manual. Sports Pack, Comfort Pack, Mats, Tinting. $24500. Was going to go with black but the sales person showed me a pepper gray one they had out the back and I was instantly impressed. Looks really really classy, especially with tinting and sports pack.

Talking about colours

Anyone wish the POlo GTI came in some more desirable colours? Like the Carbon off the Golf GTI, maybe even a bright blue or the yellow?

You mean the Savanna Yellow? now that you mention it the Savanna does look nice, however i guess the blue is reserved for the R Line Vehicles/Toureg/Tiguan.
