Hey guys, think a stock 5 door MY13 polo GTI in red, ex-demo with 197km on the clock for ~$30500 drive away is an ok deal?

I personally wouldn't touch an ex demo in this type of car, the trashing whilst cold wouldn't have been good to an already fragile engine. On the other hand thrashing an engine already at operating temp is encouraged and a good break-in method,doubt the dealers look after the car in that respect.

You should read a few post earlier... I bought my candy white my13.5 ex new demo with leatherette with 34kms.. For 29k as advertised...

Thanks guys you're right I really should have checked the web for new cars, I'm enquiring into one on carsales now. One thing that worries me is the carsales add lists under the engine tab "CAVE-####". Can I assume that any MY13.5 car will have the new CTHE engine?

all carsales ads will have CAVE -- cos its a generic load up....


yea pretty safe bet, but check the engine number on invoices and car stock details etc...

carsales have quite a few depending on your state brand new varying colours no options for 29k!

Yep, my Polo GTI was a Dec 12 build MY13, it has the CTHE engine and doesn't seem to have a drinking problem

Thanks guys, put down a small deposit on a 2013 built base-level GTI in flash red (I liked it in red more than white) for $29100 drive away.

I've been assured over the phone that it has the new spec engine and the 5 year drivetrain warrenty so here's hoping I don't get any issues. I'm also getting quite a fair trade-in price for my current car (Camry). Should have it next Monday, excited!

But just before I left, I decided to add on Eco-shield paint protection, fabric/vinyl protection, leather protection, windows tinting package for $1,100 extra (bargained down from $1,600 quoted), this is from Bryan Byrt as somebody has already mentioned. I tried to get them to throw in a few extras like the sun blinds and boot liner but they didn't want to go any further.

I'm personally excited about the car although ... Is this a good deal? And if anyone knows, what windows tinting does PVP use? (apparently this is the company BB is using) Cheers guys!

congrats on your purchase, must have bought the one that was going for 31.8k. 1 k for the RNS510 is not too bad either...

I declined there protection pack and tints etc, can get it done much cheaper elsewhere, I did my own paint protection with nanolex and did my own interior protection with simply UV sprays...

Did they sell you an extended warranty? I got mine for 1600 for 2 years extra vw alliance warranty..

I love my GTI, clocked 700kms on it so far....

Yes! I got the 2 years extended warranty too. Although I bargained that down to $1000

And yeah I didn't know much about the paint protection stuffs at that time. Kinda forgot to think about it so yeah.

Nah mate, didn't get rim or price protection. And yes, I'm serious. I think I've got a good deal. Waiting for delivery at the moment.

Picking up my GTI on Tuesday

Any running in tips? I assume just drive normally and avoid sitting at constant RPM's for too long. What oil comes in the car from new and should I be checking and topping up at any specific interval?
