On only the 3rd time the sunroof was opened, it has jammed open.....
When it went to close, it went into the "tilt" condition and is now stuck there. Hope it doesn't rain until it cant be fixed!

Also, excessive oil getting past the rings in a new car of today is unacceptable. Especially in a mass produced 4 banger.

Sorry to hear about your sunroof Benno Hope its a one off glitch with the electrics and nothing major, can you
post an update once you know more please? Would have been worse if it had jammed in the open position

Its a mechanical problem rather than electrical.
Passenger side rear corner of the glass is nice and tight, drivers side is a little loose. Feels like something has either broken, or its come off its guides etc.
It goes in tomorrow to be fixed.
Im just lucky the Mrs parks in a secure car park, and its not raining.

I just returned from a pointless trip to the dealer. The usual knocking sound/problem that most of us are having is now beginning to bug me so off I went this afternoon to have it addressed...and typically, the damn thing wouldn't make the sound when I wanted it to.

Not only this, but now I can also hear the DSG rattle for the first time. Guess it's time for some uber loud tunes!!

Sunroof fixed (for now) Glass removed, re-aligned, guides re-greased and put back together.
Annoying rattle from the wind deflector is still there. Plus some of the interior rattles.
My 3 year old Holden has less rattles than this 3 week old VW.....

Hey Benno, good to know your sunroof is fixed (hope it was a one off issue), is the wind deflector rattle only there with the sunroof open or tilt position also? Assume it's not when closed. I know both Apples and Frostee have the sunroof, so maybe they could share whether they have any rattles from theirs? We still have time to remove this spec from our own order, so food for thought?

Went out for a drive on Sunday with the roof fully open (it was an absolutely glorious winter's day) and didn't notice any rattles or noises from the sunroof. Had the roof in tilt mode this morning and no noise.

It's another beautiful day in Melbourne and I plan on having the roof open all the way home too

What I did notice was how quiet the engine was, especially compared to the Astra.

Nope...won't be driving in tomorrow. I only drive in on the days my partner works from home. Can't justify paying for 2 parking spots when we can go in together in one car (even though my parking is only $13 early bird). As it is, I sometimes feel guilty driving in because I can easily catch public transport to work.

My thoughts are that the wind deflector is rattling against the underside of the sunroof when closed or against itself when folded up. When the sunroof was open (before it jammed) the rattle was not present.
I will get them the suss it out and the other couple of rattles when it goes in for its first service/checkup.

Grr, I hate rattles Benno, doubt I would be able to wait for first service, nah, I know I wouldn't, you are more patient than me

I only drive it once or twice a week. Its the Mrs' car, so I can live with the rattles for a few more weeks.

Returned from the dealer and the rattle would not replicate itself. The more I think about it, it is a cold morning rattle. When the car and plastics heat up the rattle goes.

The dealer said that VW won't honor rattles after cars have more than 7k on them, which means if you have a rattle or squeak don't wait till your first service...

Going to have attempt number 3 at getting my "rattle" fixed this week hopefully. It's persistent now and happens without fail every time at idle.

In addition got 2 new problems:

- Rain sensing wipers not working at all (as soon as put on auto they just turn on, tried cleaning the sensor and does nothing)
- Water getting in to the door/hatch of the boot. Can clearly hear water sloshing around when I open the boot door and it kind of dribbles out of a few spots when opened...
