  • No no no, you're all wrong.

    here is the solution:

Drive the car as fast as possible to expolit your purchase to the coffee shop, the time you will save allows you to sit and enjoy your morning brew, then fang it to your desination Use the cupholder for other items, like....... Puppies or something.

      • I'm spoilt, my other "weekend" car was voted as having the best cupholders - thats why I am biased!

            • Nice to have money and toys, hey Guy? Golf R, Golf GTI, Polo GTI, Porsche Cayman, what else have you entered into the hot-tuner shootout? Are they your own personal toys too? There was a GT2 or GT3 wasn't there? I'm in the wrong gig! Don't spose you have need for an Honours Industrial Designer do you?

              • Alright so picked up my Polo on Friday... Yesterday I want to go for a drive and get 50m and the engine cuts out. I am able to restart it but keeps cutting out as soon as I give it any power. Can drive occasionally in low revs but also cuts out when in idle. The red battery icon appears in the dash.. the Polo manual indicates that is a problem with the alternator.

Initially I thought it was a low battery.. (I had been playing around with the RCD510 for a while with the engine off)..but if the car starts it isn't necessarily the battery. I am 110% sure I put in the correct petrol yesterday morning (BP Ultimate) and was able to drive after filling up from empty.. So it surely can't be that.

Called VW Roadside Assist and the RAC came round and he seems to think it might be a computer problem but couldn't fix it. So must get it towed tomorrow to get it looked at.

Not the greatest start..The car looks beautiful though..Although would be nice to drive it too

                • If the car is starting, I don't think it's the alternator, perhaps something with the fuel line? or ECU?

                  • Massive thumbs down for Essendon VW. Bought from another dealer but they're near the missus office so she took the car in around 15th March to have the engine death rattle and a few other things looked out. Had to order parts and would call in 2 weeks.

4 weeks later, heard nothing so call them. No call back. Ring again, finally get through to someone who says oh yes we have the parts - thanks for the call earlier heh. But can't do anything until start of May. Can't have a loan car due to short notice but IMO that's their **** up because if they called 2.5 weeks ago when they said they would, ample time would have been possible. Anyway, they've moved into that new joint near Essendon airport which has no PT, no loaner and no offer of a lift to nearest station or bus stop.

A+ service right there. Looks like their servicing department is as awesome as their sales team (hence not buying either car there)!

                    • As previously mentioned I received my car last week (Friday 15th) and one day later the engine starts to cut out when giving it any power. Had it towed to the dealer on the Monday and it has been there ever since. Fortunately I was given a loan car (Peugeot 308 Touring HDI) so in that time I have driven it more than my Polo.

Anyways as of last Thursday they are still not sure what the problem is and have been sending diagnostics to VW. Unfortunately for me they have also been in the process of moving their service centre to the new dedicated VW/Skoda facility so I can't be sure how much effort is being put into my car. They do say they have been waiting for the IT lads to setup the new server in the centre in order to run further diagnostics, but the errors identified so far have pointed to a possible faulty fuel pump.

Now we have the long weekend so my initial excitement of receiving the car only 9 days after being loaded off the ship in Fremantle has gone and I have now been without it for over a week (having only had it for 24 hours).

I really hope I haven't received a dud Polo. Hopefully it is just a small problem that can be fixed and not affect the car in the future..

Hope it gets fixed quick. This is NOT GOOD ENOUGH for a new car.

Show's that it's probably best to wait a least 6 months before jumping on a new car.

                          • Sorry to hear the bad news guys, hopefully they will iron out all these problems in the near future. VW really need to improve their quality control in their production plants in South Africa and Spain

                            • My mirror toggle switch is stuffed

Still works, but as you turn it to select other mirror it will get stuck and need to apply some force to get it going again

                                Yep

All good, got car back today. Originally I was told the fuel pump was replaced but today they said it was just a faulty connector to the fuel pump. So 10 days without it and that's all it was. But to be fair it was during a service move and long easter weekend.

                                Hopefully no further troubles...

                                Cheers for the support fellas
