    • Well if you really think about it, "Supercharger" is an abbreviation for "Turbosupercharger" so seeming the Germans are so pedantic about correctness, if the badge on the back said what you had it would be TTI (Turbocharged, Turbosupercharged, Injection) and a non-twin charged one would be TI (Turbocharged Injection).

Wouldn't it be TKI?...because in Germany, kompressor refers to supercharger

          • Only the GOLF has the twincharger motor AFAIK and the GTI
Only on the Polo GTI and Golf 118tsi been the only examples of twin charge (super and turbo) engines and this can be seen by the air intake that follows around the back through the turbo and superchargers.
While not all available in Aus, Scirroco, Caddy, Passat, Passat CC, Tiguan, Touran, Sharan, Eos.....

This is why there ar so many issues because they put a defective designed engine/gearbox combo in so many cars.

I had something similar. Stopped on a slight incline (not enough for hill assist) and went to accelerate. There was a slight pause then a really loud knock/bang from the engine. Scared the crap out of me. Tried to reproduce it but couldnt.

              • Had my issue again twoce in the last drive. Will book in with VW dealer to have it looked at when I get back from overseas next month.
First time it's happened to me in a straight line, was in low RPM coming to a stop when lights changed, and this time was in S2 as opposed to one. Not so much a DSG hesitation, but when I hit the gas it stayed almost idle in S2 before deciding to accelerate again.

                • Ok so i need some help desperately!, i have had this noise ever since i bought the car in september(2nd hand), when i step on the accelerator (esp in 3rd gear manual) then take my foot completely off the accelerator and the engine is at about 3000rpm i hear this repeating fast noise, to describe the noise its as if you are sticking a pen into a fan, just like a cc c c c c c c c c c c c at quite a high frequency
I have been to VW 3 TIMES!!! and yet every time i was told "normal operation" except the last time i called to check up on how it was as i had left it over night for an extensive road test and they said it was a valve in the engine and then suddenly changed it to normal
operation again. Yet i have been in the exact same model car and its sounds normal!!

My next option is to take it to Barloworld rather than artarmon as i believe they are useless, or find someone who does warranty work.

But does anyone know what this could be. At first i thought maybe an exhaust leak or a blown gasket nut nope, also i hear a shorter version of this when i hit certain bumps, and i have re checked for loose bolts etc a million times!!!

                  • seems like this hesitation only happens with automatic gearbox owners, seems like you can narrow it down to that

unless anyone with a manual 77tsi (turbo super injected car) has had the same problem ?

                              • Well the Mechatronics unit and clutches have been replaced and...well I can say there is very little difference. Still shifts quite slow at times (and slow in general in comparison to the GTI which uses the same box) and still does some weird things. It's not dumping the clutch in second any more (I think) which is a plus. Still dropped it once coasting down a hill while taking off. And also dropped it going into sport.

Acually this is a question for all you out there. When going into sport has anyone experienced it been quite rough and dropping the clutch into gear from say 7th to 5th?

If so what do you do to shift into Sport? Do you take your foot off the accelerator and then shift or do you just floor it and shift into Sport at the same time?

                                Thanks in advance.
