Not sure about that, but I can tell you my 3 door black was without concrete slab above head.

I think the idea is to reduce wind noise in the cabin or just turbulence in general.

I believe it is the wind deflector, majority of sunroofs have them. My honest opinion, the sunroof looks odd open but again, that's just my opinion looks cool closed tho
