Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Detecting canbus gateway revision using OBDEleven?

    Hey all,

First post and hopefully an easy one. I've just installed a noname rcd330 hu into my 2013 Polo 6R and am getting anxious about battery drain..

Installation was a breeze, but when I have the car off and my phone still plugged in via the USB port, I'm still getting a charge from the unit which is concerning.

I've got myself an ODBEleven and I've been trying to use it to determine if the canbus gateway is the corrected model number / revision, but try as I might, I can't seem to figure it out.

I've gone into the control units and selected "gateway (16)" and hit "info" and I'm getting some info back, but I seem to be missing the "revision letter" at the end of the Hardware number...

If this is the right place to look, can someone confirm from the details below if I've got anything to worry about with possible battery drain??

    System description: GW-K-CAN TP20
    Identifier: J533
    Hw number: 6R0937087
    Hw version: H32
    Sw number: 6N0909901
    Sw version: 0407
    Coding: 002300

    Thanks in advance!!

In the PQ25 Polo the gateway and BCM are a combined module.
Don't think that will give you battery drain issues.
The head unit should stay powered for 30mins after you turn the car off. Then it should power off.
