Nice pickup. I was thinking that the next version couldn’t be too far away and have been checking the site a couple of times a week.

hi doc_777 i tried to update my sd card on imac, it was going ok; and when i completed update on imac, and put sd card into slot in car, and it could not find the update??? Passat B8 MY2016. Current version vo3959801E 0049 row 2015/2016.

should i buy a separate sd card, like 32gb class 10? or just keep using the sd card supplied by vw, however it is only 9gb per the info on my imac.

the P0076 (ROW 2019) maps are 24gb in size.

I just use the VW updater “DiscoverCare” - has a download manager included and also takes care of card formatting etc. Unzipped size of the file package is ~29GB

in the past I’ve downloaded the compressed file, unzipped it, and written it to card without using DiscoverCare - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Using the DiscoverCare app i’ve never experienced a failure on MacOS.

still not working.
i tried use the new 32gb sd card, the headunit can detect the software update, however the 'start' button is inactive, and some files show 'Err' at the end, some show 'F' ... confused. did i download the wrong map? maybe?

anyway i use android auto often, gps map is not that important to me, just because it is free so i give it a go.

btw how can i have live traffic update on the gps?

just checking i got the right map material.

i am bit confused, should i still use the original sd card provdied by vw? do i need to update the original sd card on DiscoverCare? what's point to keep this original sd card?

if i want to update my map on car gps, can i just use the 32gb sd card loaded with new map material?

i just give up...
called dealer, my car is still under warranty, they can do map update for me free of charge... lucky this is the last year (3rd).

Dont think so they use a different system and usually has to be done by a stealer at great cost
