Currently in Bathurst for the day and enjoyed the drive in the new ride. Might let the misses do a lap where she can't scrape any gutters

Fuel economy?
Hi all,
Just wondering what sort of fuel economy other owners are getting? That's the only slight let down for me so far, previous 2016 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI was rated 4.9 combined and long term average I got was 5.2 but with the Alltrack it's rated 5.4 and my usual average for my work commute is 6.4, best I've seen is 5.5 but that was for a run that the Octavia would've probably gotten 4.5 or better.
Cheers,

I just got 5.8 Syd - Bathurst return which is good for new motor and I wasn't looking for a figure. In all honesty as long as it stays in the mid 6's i'll be happy.Originally posted by Jondalar View PostHi all,

Quick review, car drove beautifully today chalked up over 400k's which was a great run to help run a diesel motor in. Plenty of hills and decent engine load for some periods. Car handled well through some twisties though the 19's really arn't needed but wern't overly harsh. The DSG performed flawlessly and I was quite surprised by how intuitive it seemed in the hills. S mode isn't need IMHO and won't get much use from me I think.
All up the Passat Alltrack Wolfie is a well sorted comfortable car that can be fun to drive in a spirited manner.Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition My18

Thanks for the replies, I'm not really worried about the fuel economy, just expected it to be great from day one like the Skoda was. Even if it stays 6.4 it's a lot better than I'd have gotten from anything else I was considering (Golf R Wolfsberg wagon).
I had 19's on the Skoda but the Alltrack has a much more comfortable quiet ride on the same rim size.MY18 Passat Alltrack Wolfsberg (white) darkest legal tint (SOLD), 2014 Golf 110 TDI Highline (sold after DM Flywheel issues), now 2021 RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid, 2020 C-HR Koba Hybrid

Which one feels better to drive though ?Originally posted by doc_777 View PostThe 17’s with standard suspension is a much better ride, and substantially quieter though. You can certainly tell the difference between my wife’s car and mine.
Currently running 38 psi to save the rubber but may drop them to 34 will give them a few weeks.Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition My18

the 17s have plenty of traction and a good road feel. Outright grip? The 19’s probably have more - I’ve never gotten them to slip laterally. But them the 17’s have never slipped laterally either. I;d say the 17s are a better match for the chassis, whereas the 19s are a styling over substance decision.Originally posted by Just_Westy View PostWhich one feels better to drive though ?

Spent all day running around Sydney and am used to the 19's now, they feel pretty good except when driving along Parramatta rd. Interestingly fuel economy is running at 5.9 which is better than I thought.Originally posted by doc_777 View Postthe 17s have plenty of traction and a good road feel. Outright grip? I just got back from a 3000 km road trip - I averaged 6.7 mostly highway driving, the best I could manage was 6.3 from Gold Coast to Sydney. Around town I'm getting 7.6. I've just hit 10,000 ks now so hopefully I'll start seeing better economy.Originally posted by Jondalar View PostHi all,

I did a trip to Coolum Beach yesterday, almost all highway apart from 5km at each end, got 5.1 on the way up (tailwind) and 5.6 on the way back (headwind), all at the speed limit and mostly using the adaptive cruise. (I discovered on the Octavia that the adaptive cruise is significantly more economical than a human driver most of the time).
Re the 19's my wife's Golf Highline has 17's and handles really well, but I think my car is a smoother ride apart from being a bit sharp over small irregularities at times. (That's on "normal" setting).

Thats good fuel economy Karl, what tyre pressure are you running ?Originally posted by Jondalar View PostI did a trip to Coolum Beach yesterday, almost all highway apart from 5km at each end, got 5.1 on the way up (tailwind) and 5.6 on the way back (headwind), all at the speed limit and mostly using the adaptive cruise. I've left it at the 38 that the dealer delivered it with. From memory recommended is 34 but I've always found manufacturer recommended too low, wears the outer edges of the tyres too fast. Got 5.7 for the trip to work today so not unhappy with that.
