Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • All Driver Assistance settings giving errors

    Hi all,

I've just come back from holidays to find that all my driver assistance settings, ESC and other "computer related" settings are now throwing out errors.

Has anyone come across this issue?

Thought it might have been a battery issue but I started the car up just fine. And delays or issues.

Battery might start the car but is below an acceptable level for electronics Mine used to do the same. Take it in and get them to clear faults and test the battery S/S ones dont last beyond about 4 years

A word to the wise LOCK the car when you go away and everything goes to sleep otherwise its sitting there saying is he coming, is he coming Ill just wait and see and keep things ready LOL

Locked up its shut down and asleep

As JHillBilly has said, low battery has been the culprit lots of times. If the car is left undriven for longer periods investment in a CTEK charger is worth it. My Golf did less than 2,000km last year so spends the vast majority of it's life sitting with it's battery on float.

In a prior life I used to drive it to the train station which wasn't enough to provide a net positve charge to the battery either, especially in Winter with the lights on. The CTEK was bought to plug it in to charge it up once a month or so to keep it topped up. While it's not a stop/start vehicle, I'm still running the OEM battery at a shade over eight years. I won't be surprised when it dies, but no signs of slowing down just yet.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

^^^^^^ to the Ctek an MX7.0 is the ideal size as does all types of batteries and is about $150 at Repcp at times
