Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

225/60R16 98Y is available in the Pirelli Cinturato P7 (Which is the same 19" tyre fitted to the wolfy and has the same load and speed index, so insurance should be fine as its the same rolling diameter). Might have issues fitting over the brakes?

Damn, just had the all track in finally to see if we could fit the 16” wheels I had from the old car and it’s a no go. Needs more clearance and offset to work.

            Hey Foxuppet,

Did you ever put 17"'s and larger tyres on your B8 in the end?

I am looking to do something simlar to what you did on your 1.0 Build. But I am aslo looking for a 1.5inch lift kit.

No I didn’t get around to it, but still contemplating. Last year we needed new tyres and I had another go at looking for 16” but just couldn’t find the right wheelset. (Second hand)
