  • B7 Passat Reverse Camera Module

    Hi all,

Recently had a rear camera module in my wifes B7 fail due to the apparently common wagon water leak, read some posts mentioning that the 3C9907441 might be able to be replaced with the 3C8907441. I have now gotten my hands on a 3C8 module, however having some issues attempting to code it with my car.

Getting fault code 01043 - incorrect software version. Anyone come across this and / or have a solution?

Software version of the module is 0020.

    Would greatly appreciate any assistance!

You can flash it to sw version 0040 with ODIS or VCP.

One hack to get this working without flashing facilities is changing the vehicle body type in the gateway module to match the type the module came from.
I ran a CC camera module like this for a few years [emoji14]

Otherwise like Kamold said, you need to cross-flash the module.

BTW depending on how water damaged the old module it, they can be repairable.

Hi Gents, just wondering where this module is in the wagon? When I put the car on reverse, the parking sensor button near the gear shifter flashes and beeps?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is "behind right luggage compartment side trim pane"

If the parking sensor is beeping and flashing, there normally is a fault stored on the PDC; scan the car to determine the error.

The most common issues are a parking speaker failure or the RVC module being flooded (Not sure if that caused the beeping via PDC).

            I got the car scanned,

            2 codes;

B107604 - left rear parking aid sensor faulty
            02873 - rearview camera system control module -j 772 - sporadic 004-no signal/communication

Hoping it's just a faulty sensor (these things temperamental....one fails and the whole thing stops)

I would be a bit worried about the sporadic 004-no signal/communication, that how many of the flooded RVC modules start, water or wiper fluid starts corroding the connector, better to pull the boot liner and check. The connector if corroded can be replaced or cleaned.

A cool trick to test the parking sensors is to try and activate them, and with a slightly wet finger touching the sensors, you will be able to feel and "clicking" on them.

I'll pull it apart and see. Roughly how much to replace the module?

Second-hand units cost between $200 - 300 if you shop around wreckers, wagon units are harder to fine due to the water issue; new units are like $1400
