I'm hoping I can save some money by having the brake work done by a local independent VW specialist. But, I have a couple of questions about exactly what needs doing:
- Is it necessary to change both the discs and pads at the same time, or should I just ask for the pads to be changed?
- How urgent is this work? Do I need to get the parts replaced ASAP, or can it wait until later in the year, or even until I notice a warning light or an unusual noise?
The reported thicknesses according to the dealership (Dec 2021 => Dec 2022, about 4000km driven) are:
- Front pads: 4.0 => 2
- Front discs: 23.0 => 22.8
- Rear pads: 8.0 => 6
- Rear discs: 10.0 => 11.7 (!)
