VAG-COM communication error, no ABS, rear view camera, parking sensors,etc.

    VAG-COM communication error, no ABS, rear view camera, parking sensors,etc.

    I've recently had my rear view camera no longer working, the rear electric boot not opening properly, and today a lot of dahsboard lights coming on, eg. no abs speed sensors, no parking sensors etc. Am wondering if I can have bad / corroded wiring or a faulty gateway? I tried scanning with VAG-COM, but half the time it says "Unable to communicate". If I try again, half of the time it works. I got halfway through the auto-scan after trying a few times. I also managed to save each error manually by retrying.

      Hmm, didn't think about that. I'll put a charger on it overnight to see if it improves things.

      The rear view camera can drop out if the cabling is bad though?

        Possibly but when my battery started dieing I got a dash full of lights and faults and things didnt work and a new battery fixed it but had to go to dealer to get faults cleared

        It still started the TDI but wouldnt run the electrics

          Sad to say, but a charge will not fix this, it may help in the very very short term, but its likely a replacement will be required. ... Unless it somehow is not getting properly changed when driving. Incidentally, that was actually the main cause for the A1. A mostly dead battery (30% life left) and an issue with module 08 HVAC caused a drain on the battery at all times. The charging could simply not keep up with the continuous drain. Ended up with a new battery and a new HVAC module

            I did a charge overnight, and I managed to clear most errors. Still has some communication errors, so I agree I probably need a new battery. The rear view camera still has no communication though, so I believe it's either a gateway or cabling issue. The charger showed 13v this morning, but I believe a good battery should show more than that when charged?
