Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • B7 Tailgate/Boot open and close from key

    Hello team
I have searched the site for many hours and can't find any info.
I have a B7 130TDI wagon. I want to be able to close the boot with the key or inside cabin switch.

Am i able to do this with some VCDS coding and if so, where do i locate this.

    Thanks in advance.

There used to be a module you could buy that allowed you to remote close the tailgate. Some people have also done their own hacks but I'm not sure what they've done.
It's not a simple coding change though. In the newer MQB boot modules you can upload a parameter set which allows closing from the fob or interior boot button.

Would be if your 3 year old was half way in the rear when you shut it without looking

If it was a gentle close, I would want it too...

...but woah, I got the mechanism replaced recently (it was starting to struggle, and the last month of the lease) and it closes with quite a big force...

Seems like quite a significant design faux pas to me - just about every other power tailgate closes quite gently by comparison.
