My R36 wagon was delivered last friday. I have a question some of you may be able to help with;
Does the "shark fin" antenna only come with the upgraded audio system?.
Anyone else found the acceleration deceiving, namely because the torque curve is quite broad, making the acceleration quite linear across a wide rev range?.
Nah, the fin comes with sat nav. As far as I'm aware it's possible to have the standard stereo system with Dynaudio but some other antenna.
Acceleration is deceiving. I've put the foot down and thought "I'll let off now... I'm doing about the speed limit" only to look at the instruments and see I'm doing in excess. Similarly, I've tried to drive it like the GTI only to find I'm going too fast or the car feels too heavy.
The noise is great, but it's not good for the petrol tank and it mightn't be so good for the wallet, either.
How do you like it so far? I love mine (ours?).
It's gone to Melbourne and back already, and gets three thumbs up.

Ralph.
Ralph - Congrats on the new car.
I dont have dynaudio/satnav, and my car has no antenna at all...
The car is so different to drive than my GTI, it isn't as frantic, and the speed just builds in a wave rather than the GTI which seemed to be either on power or off.
The DSG seems to be differently (better) set up so that it doesnt jump gears as quickly, unless it is really stepped on. The Sport Mode still shifts aggressively though.
I have also found the overspeed assist function (which changes gears to keep the speed of the car constant either when on cruise or if you brake down an incline) takes a bit of getting used to. It is weird to feel the car shift down gears when going downhill with the cruise on.
I have only covered 1000kms (city driving), and am hoping to take it for a longer drive this weekend. Average Fuel consumption is 13.2l/100. GTI was 11.5l/100 in town. I think the extra $3.50/100kms is totally worth it!!!
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers
My first post. I have ordered a sedan with roof, but a little stuck on color choice. I am trading a blue R32, and was looking at black or silver. Has anyone seen either in the flesh to help with the decision. The dealer here in Vic only has one in the blue.

Editing my comments in relation to silver having seen one now, I reckon it looks great....

Here's a link to a youtube clip of a silver R36. Bear with it, at 3:10 or so the driver gets out and has a walk around to show the exterior. I kinda like the silver: it would be my second choice as it's a little more anonymous.
Black looks ok, but I think the Silver looks too bland - all the matt chrome just blends in rather than being a feature.
That's a good thing. My biggest pet peeve about the current VWs is the goofy looking chrome colouring on the front.
Looks good on the R50 and other Touaregs though. I think because of the size and that they're further off the ground.
I do quite enjoy the car, it is an amazing amount of technology and performance for the price. The DSG really works wonders and makes the car as much as the engine.
BTW I have the silver (my initial choice was grey). I agree it looks a bit understated (which I must admit I like). The silver does work well with the dark interior though.
I am also really enjoying the headlights, and dare I say it, the heated seats.
