Yeah mate,
I have retrofitted at RVC and RCD510 to my R36. Relatively easy now that I know what is going on. The nav unit would be exactly the same except that I think you have to fit an extra couple of things to make the nav actually work. Much cheaper using your phone or an external unit, but it is up to you. I will be retro fitting Bluetooth too shortly so that will be another interesting thing to look forward to. Good luck finding one. They are nice to drive though!!!

I bought one in August and I've still got e-mail notifications for 2009 onwards. There are some proper dreamers, which includes everyone north of $40k. As a general rule, desirable examples can go for up to the mid 30's, average ones end up more in the high 20's. By low 20's you're looking at pretty ordinary examples. If you're asking high 30's, you need to have a pretty good reason I think given how many great examples are available for cheaper, or you're looking to be talked down.
Redbook is useful for negotiating but really, it's wrong for R36's, as it often is for high end cars. I had the same thing with my previous car, despite being a top end model and not common, the Redbook was basically the same as the common models but the market just did not reflect that at all. Redbook is really only good for run of the mill cars, not flagships and sports cars and the like. It's the market that ultimately dictates value, sub 20k R36's just are not happening yet. They will get there, but not at the moment.
For reference, mine was one of the best on the market at the time with almost full options, a lot of dealer adds, probably the most desirable combo (Wagon, MY10.5, white or blue) and had only done 75kms with full history. Only problem was some curb rash on one of the rims. He had it listed for 37k, I borderline lowballed using Redbook to drive the price down and picked it up for a fair bit less, which was a very good deal based on what else was available and still is.
If you can, my opinion is aim for as close to the 65,000 major service as possible. As long as that's been done, as little kms as you can manage. Best bang for buck is about there. You can buy a car with more km's and chances are it'll be fine if meticulously serviced, but I'd only do it if it was cheap enough to justify.
Update:
Am in the process of trading the Golf for a 2009 (white MFD) Biscay Blue wagon!
Wife gets the Octy RS so she's happy.
Inspection happening today, fingers crossed I'll have it for the weekend.
Just had 60k service done.
Doesn't have Dynaudio upgrade which I'm a little disappointed about but otherwise it looks great.
Already started looking into colour MFD and climatronics module upgrades.
If anyone has done either of thess already let me know. Would like to get some first hand knowledge of what's needed.

Cool, welcome to the club, hopefully!
Any other options besides Dynaudio? I've got the climatronic already but would be interested to see if you go down colour MFD route, hadn't really considered it before.
Thanks for the welcome, looking forward to being part of the club
It has the powered tailgate and RVC, and RNS.
I have an aftermarket BT module lying around that I'll use, will install an OEM BT/MDI combo module 5N0035729A down the track.
With the climatronics module install, did you need anything other than the module itself, 5K0 907 044 ES ?
Cool, RNS is a must and powered tailgate turned out to be a lot more awesome than I thought it would be, awesome option! My BT is the Fiscon Kufatec Plus, I think it was a dealer fit option. I've heard it's one of the best but I think I might have preferred OEM like you're going so it would play bluetooth music via the RNS interface rather than just broadcasting the audio to it pretending to be a phone.
For climatronic, I have a newer model than you so it was factory for me, can't help you there. Along with sunroof, MY10.5 was one of my requirements as they're the two biggies you can't retrofit, like say Dynaudio which I too wish I had but plan to put in.
The BT module I have does A2DP streaming, but just doesnt support v1.3 so doesnt show track names.
Otherwise its very good. Its a Melbourne company which I can't remember the name of.
Sunroof would be nice but I didn't consider it essential for me.
RNS is an easy retrofit so didn't phase me but this one already has one (although its an older variant so I might end up swapping it anyway)
But the RVC is a big retrofit job (due to trim removal etc, did it on the Golf and Octy so dont want to do it again) so wanted that, and tailgate isnt worth the time or trouble to fit aftermarket, so glad it has it.

Yeah it's got its (well discussed) shortfalls but the integration is not possible with aftermarket units, particularly if I want to go the route of colour MFD

Yeah Fiscon supports A2DP but it does it in a really stupid way. Though the RNS has a section for bluetooth, it is greyed out and the Fiscon instead sends the music data to the head unit as a telephone signal. The negative of this is that the quality is noticably lower than a direct connection, and it's a lot quieter too because telephone has a different volume slider to music. Plus, if I get a notification on my phone, it picks that up as music and stops any audio on the RNS playing for a few seconds if the phone isn't directly connected. On the plus side, the phone integration is perfect! Haha. Also, changing tracks for bluetooth is done via the MFD not the RNS... basically for all this I just don't use A2DP and plug my phone into the MID.
And yeah sunroof is not an essential for everyone of course but I just happen to love them, and my last car had literally every option available to it except sunroof which always bothered me. It was a dealbreaker for me, but that's personal choice. I love finally having one.
I've had a sunroof in two previous cars and agree they are a nice to have.
If the car had had a sunroof I would have been pleased, but other factors like colour, kms, service history etc were more important to me, had I not been willing to wait (which I was, just the circumstances conspired to encourage me into this particular example
