      No rush mate. Congrats.
So do u reckon we need to get extra hardware to make the high beam assist to work?

no hardware for high beam assist as long as you have the driver assistance package. you will need new headlights if you want dynamic light assist as those headlamps have shutters inside to adjust the beam.

Cool. So how does the high beam assist work?
Also how does it get coded? Care to help me out. I'll be happy to pay for your time.
          Thanks

            Hi,

Firstly congrats on the new baby.. hope all is well.

Being slow (thick) with this stuff, I have finally read and understood part of your post " I found controller A5".. Small step I know.

Below is the original coding for my A5 controller.

            01000000010202110200040001010100

Does this code start with byte zero (in red) or is this byte one?

            01000000010202110200040001010100

Secondly I cannot get the long code helper up for this screen and seem to be only able to change the bytes. I changed
What I thought was byte two the second 00 to an 01, nothing seemed to change.

            01000100010202110200040001010100

When I changed the first 00, I got the menu for traffic sign assist, though as you said it does not work here.

            01010000010202110200040001010100

Anyway the laptop went flat while doing this, I will reset everything back and stop changing things, before wrecking something.

Hopefully you can point in me the right direction.

PS I believe the CC uses shutters on the bi-xenon's to change between High and Low beam, I am not sure if this means I have the right lights for front light assist. I haven't looked at the part numbers yet.

              Hi Guys,

Thanks mate. All is well, just focusing on baby for now. I don't remember if long coding showed up the bits however you need to just focus on the first 3 bytes. You count the bytes strarting at 0.

              For example with your code.

              Byte 0 - 01
              Byte 1 - 00
              Byte 2 - 00
              Byte 3 - 00
              Byte 4 - 01
              Byte 5 - 02
              Byte 6 - 02
              Byte 7 - 11
              Byte 8 - 02

              and so on....

Setting Byte 0 to 01 enabled ane asisst enable which is what we get here in AU
Setting Byte 1 to 01 enabled sign assist however i haven't been able to get this to work
Setting Byte 2 to 01 enabled high beam assist. Once this is enabled you need to completely shut the car down and start it back up.

You will know that high beam assist is enabled if you turn on high beams by pushing the left stalk forward. You will see a little headlight symbol with a letter A.

High beam assist will detect when there is no traffic around in poorly list areas and automatically turn on the high beams, it will turn them off again when it detects a vehicle or road lights etc. It will only activate at a certain speed however I haven't figured this out. You can disable this function by pulling back on the stalk. High beam assist will only function with the headlight switch is in Auto position.

Setting Byte 2 to 02 will enable dynamic light assist will use the internal shutters only available in certain headlight models. This will permanently enable high beams in all traffic and adjust the rangle dynamically to not dazzle other drivers. These shutters are different to the standard Bi Xenon high/low beam shutter.

You need these headlights for dynamic light, i have them as they will be installed soon. Passat OEM Bi- Xenon + Dynamic Headlights 3AC941043 + 3AC941044 - for UK and RHD markets

                Thanks for your prompt reply.

I do have long code after all, its just that I didn't have long code helper.

I can confirm that bytes 0 and 1 are the same on the CC and give the same results as your car when changed.

For some reason byte 2 has no effect with my car. I would have assumed it would have been the same as the Passat as I have the same options fitted.. Driver assistance package, etc.

I have shut down and restarted the car with this bit changed but there is no change, Pushing the high beam lever forward just turns on high beam. There is no additional icon.

I won't give up just yet. I can see a lot of other options relating to High Beam assist and FLA in the Adaption settings.

I just wonder if there is something else I am missing.

Ah crap, sorry guys, I have not provided all the information, you also need to code controller 09. I really should have documented with images as I coded this instead of relying on memory.

Code Byte 11 and tick bit 3 in controller 09. The final value of this byte should be 88 instead of 80. You may need to just change 80 to 88 if vcds doesn't recognise the controller.

                    Thanks Jeremy (booba)

Your help has been much appreciated.

I followed your instructions as soon as I got home from work and hey presto, I have auto high beam working.

Cheers mate and best of luck with the new bub.

                    Regards
