ok, update.
I did it! After a few attempts, I managed to get that damn thing through. There were quite a few words said to that bloody rubber tube, but at least it is done now. I now need to concentrate on all those panels. It'll be a challenge, but we'll see how we go. I've gotta try and squeeze some time in here and there to get it done. Then gotta get someone to help code the sucker but I have some instructions to help so hopefully they will be the happy ending!!

good work mate. I remember a few choice words being mumbled when i did the golf. I basically removed the blue housing from the rgb cable and ran it in reverse to camera.

Update on the progress of the RVC install. Managed to get some time to bring the wires from the tailgate hinge through to the front. Currently, the power wire and the signal wire are sitting up behind the headunit waiting to be installed once I find someone to give me a hand with regards to coding the headunit in, and then turning the RVC on.
It ended up being a little easier than I thought. Best piece of equipment is an old wire clothes hanger that I straightened out. Threading the wire from the back through to the back of the rear seat was easy as I just used a light to see what I could and it ended up being a cavernous space in behind the carpet. Once at the rear seat, I carefully took off the outside bolster. Now, be warned, this has a wire hooked up to it as this the side airbag so I had to be careful. Once this panel is removed I could see where all the main wiring loom was heading along the sill of the car. I just decided to stick the end of the clothes hanger in there and it ended up sliding through a reasonably long way. I ended up seeing the end of the wire in the little slot where the front seat belt for the front seat goes through the plastic facia at the bottom. So, I pulled the wire through to this point. From here I ended up just laying the two wires underneath the plastic door sill as this just pulled straight up starting at the front. I didn't remove it all as it is partly underneath the B pillar plastic. From the front of the front door sill, I then just tucked it underneath the carpet and then managed to thread the wire up through the dash into the area behind the headunit. This long piece of clothes hanger wire is your friend!! Believe me! I had excess length so I ended up pushing the excess beneath the front of the door sill in an area that has a little space to conceal it. Anyhow, I realise that it is a little hard to follow but this has been the easiest part of the whole process. I also have to hook the earth wire in off the camera in the tailgate to the earth point that is already there with other wires going to it. There is a blue wire that I am going to try on the positive of the reversing light. The only problem that I can see may occur, is interference once the car starts, but we'll see how we go when that occurs. I have been reading a little on the net with others installing in tiguans that have it work perfectly when engine off, but it has lines occur when the engine starts. I think that they have then just installed a relay using the blue wire to turn the relay on, and getting power from a positive source. In my case, the battery is sitting at the back of the car, so I may have to pay a visit to my old sparring partner, the hinge rubber, to feed a couple of thin wires through, but I don't think that it is going to be a major pain. Here's hoping that it doesn't come to this though!!

That is possibly the easiest part. Take the plastic cover/shelf off from the battery. Remove the panel above it and place a light in that general cavity. Once you have the side bolster part of the seat off with the airbag in it, you can look through a hole and you can see the light shining through. It is really obvious once you have the side bolster off. There is a massive amount of space between the wheel arch and the carpet. I then just pushed through my trusty piece of straightened coat hanger and grabbed it at the other end. Tape your wires on the end closest to the back and then pull through. Trust me, it is really easy, just don't pull the bolster part of the seat with the airbag too hard as it has a wire connected to it and I would suggest to not disconnect it!!

Had the RCD510 and RVC coded today. The RVC was really easy but the headunit wasn't. Because I have the amp under the seat, it took a little while to get the right combo so that the coding would save. Kept getting errors. Anyway, all up and working now except that I have the shakey/flickering image when in reverse, even when engine is not on. Looks like I have some investigating to do. It might be a case of trying the positive straight onto the battery, although I think that this might not be the solution either. It could be trigger wire hooked into the reverse light. Will see what happens after I do some research.
