R36 Wagon RVC Install Questions

Yeah, the problem is that my coaxial cable doesnt have that outer sheath to remove. It is a one piece moulded section unlike the blue one in the link. That's part of my problem

So there isn't that purple clip which you can slide back & then releases the blue bit? Hmmm, not sure then is it a genuine cable?

Not sure mate. The camera has the vw symbol and the cable has the proper pin to fit into the back of the headunit.

Do you have a photo of the plug handy?

Have you run the wiring to the headunit yet? I'm curious to know how difficult it is - I'm in the process of installing a subwooffa and am considering whether to tap the inputs at the amp or the head unit.

A photo of the RVC kit will be helpful. Where did you buy the kit from?

I haven't run wires to the front yet. I haven't made it past the tailgate! I thought this would have been a simple job! I was also told to splice the two positives together and run them to the fuse in the back of the headunit but I am thinking that I should run the red positive to maybe the back of the headunit and the blue positive to the positive of the reversing light which is virtually right next to the camera. There also seems to be a ground point too right next to the camera but I am unsure on this for the time being.

Would it be any easier to start at the head unit and thread the other plug down the car to the camera?

Look at the second photo in his ebay listing, there is the blue plug and you did not get that?

Nah, starting at the headunit doesn't solve the problem of how to get the wire through the rubber tube next to the tailgate hinge. The blue plug shown in the ad is on the cord coming off the camera itself. Hmm, i'm gonna have to get some professional help i think

The issue is the black plug, it should be blue. The blue one has a purple bit which easily unclips & disassembles the plastic leaving just the coaxle wire... You need to change this wire.

ok guys, this has been bugging me all night!! I rang a possible installer but the price was quite a lot out of my range so I contacted the seller again this morning and he has been good to deal with so I can highly recommend him. Vincent is his name too.
He said to pull the big plug apart that attaches to the headunit. I was a little nervous about doing this but he assured me that it is what he does so I gave it a crack, and luckily, it worked, although it was a little bit of a bitch!! Hopefully I haven't buggered the contacts (which I think I didn't). Hopefully this will be small enough now to allow me to pull this end through the rubber tube near the hinge. If I can, then it will be onto the next issue of trying to get the wires through to the front of the car along the sill. I had a quick look and it doesn't look quite as simple as what I had hoped, but I'll give it a crack. Just gotta pick my timing right so I don't get in trouble for spending too much time with the car and not with our 11 month old.Well, here are some pics.

good news, I did similar thing on desktop, trick is to use a small pin(paper clip thing) to undo the contacts. make sure the pin assignment is correct when you put them back.

to get the cable to the headunit, a lot of panels need to be removed, interested in seeing how it goes. good luck mate!

Yeah, I had a quick look at the amount of panels. There is a lot more than my trusty old XR8!
Gonna have a crack after work today to see how I go. If I can get this through then I will be a little bit relieved, but not out of danger just yet.
Can I ask one question though?
Does any other wagon drivers have the RVC fitted as standard?
I know the later models came with the RNS510 and satnav! I may be potentially the first with a RVC!

not sure about 08 model but on 09/10 models, a lot come with RVC on either RNS510 or RCD510.
