VW doesn't have a twin turbo 6 cyl engine in operation do they?
The only charged 6 cyl's i know of are the supercharged 3.0 V6 in the Audi's.

the 2.5T I5 makes a good amount of power required for the "r" flagship passat but also comes with better fuel economy and emissions than other options.
Plus they already have the tooling and development done on teh engine so it would be an easy fit.

That is just my reasoning though.

They built a twin turbo VR6 for the Golf Design Vision, but I don't know what it's based upon and it's certainly not a production engine.
