  • 130TDI B7 Tune

ive presently got a mk6 tdi golf running a plug in tuning box from the UK - it does the trick but i was hoping to go something more permanent for the Passat...

has anyone remapped their TDI Passat and can make recommendations of a decent diesel tuner in Melbourne?

plug in unit is around $500 for the Passat upgrades to 160kW & 450nM... was hoping a tuner could extract 180kw & 500nm

That's not possible with just plug in and tune.. Evolve technik in melb is doing it for 1600 plug in and tune. 140 kw and 420 nm I remembered..it's not much and they will selder the chip onto the ecu so diagnostics tool won't flag at service ..cos it can be turned off aka switch program via OBD.

When I was looking I only found Oettinger. They have a chip that makes 143kw and 420Nm.

You have DNA Tuning who' Aussie dealer is based out of Melbourne who can no doubt offer a tune for your engine. My brother had his 2012 Skoda Octavia 103TDI tuned by DNA and it was a little pocket rocket once tuned. My Golf R is also tuned with DNA and makes 208kw and 380nm at the wheels. Look in the sponsor section. His tunes are <$1k

thanks guys appreciate the responses... i think the existing plug in box is probably the most convenient and seems best bang for buck.

          cheers

will do - im going to buy from the same mob i used for the golf (dtuk) ... it's got 12 maps to choose from and has been fantastic, here's hoping for a similar experience with the passat.

well have to say im equally impressed with the box on the passat, exceptional service only took 4 days from UK to Aust via Fedex.

now when it comes on boost it pulls like a freight train, it's strong throughout the mid range. with the map ive chosen they claim roughly 158kw & 450nm.

car only has 330km on it so as she loosens up i can only hope it'll get even better

Sounds awesome. Ive got a few queries.

It will be interesting to see the effect on your economy. Can you report back how it goes?
including freight to Vic, would you mind sharing what this gold mine of a mod cost?
How does the DSG handle it? I was of the belief it was only capable of 350nm.

                  Cheers,

they sprout 20% improved fuel economy, to be honest i havent looked.. on the golf it certainly hasnt had any adverse effects.

the price is 400GBP with expediated shipping but i got it for 290 GBP including shipping as a repeat buyer - if you contact andrew at DTUK and say youve seen him on the forum and whatnot, he'll do you a good deal.

the DSG handles the increased power without any problem at all, in fact i find it shifts better and thankfully doesnt go into D6 at 50kmh anymore (this previously 5h1t me to tears). in stock form the 130tdi passat has 380nm so the 350nm is just an internet myth.

if by regen you mean that bluemotion horse 5h1t then yes, it still does it although its the first thing i now turn off when in the car.

as far as installing goes, you take the plastic cover off, unplug the fuel rail connector and plug the box in - literally 3 minutes.

if you want pictures and whatnot, their website has a full colour pdf.

hi mate - do you have a link to the website? nothing was mentioned in the earlier posts.

i have a 2013 TDI and very much looking at something like this but need to be sure no flags are raised during service.

If only there was some way to type something & search for it

Let me google that for you

ive got a low post count so i didnt want to give the website in case folks thought i was spamming etc but brad's link above is the company in question - diesel tuning uk ltd (dtuk).

as far as servicing goes in our golf, i just disconnect the box (takes roughly 45 seconds) and drop it off. when the car comes back i put the box back on straight away (2 min).

ive got 2200km on the Passat now and shes starting to open up nicely, ive got the box set up on max power and the mid range pull from 1800 to 4200 is simply sensational. this thing destroys Golf GTI's at the lights and on the run has no problems sitting side by side with Clubsports.
