MY13 changes

I reckon that Kessy will be on Passat MY14 as it is available on the CC MY13. I heard rumours that premium MFD was on CC but i don't think it is, easy retrofit at about $500.

I believe the towball is an ADR issue and did read that possiblity of Dynamic Light Assist being LHD only but the MY13 Passat in UK has it along with some other features like reading of road signs, side assist plus, climate control seats and massage seats.. bastards! They don't however get a V6.

Just had a look at the UK Alltrack. Don't seem to be too many differences from the LHD in Germany. About the strangest thing I noticed was that selecting the "smart" highbeams seems to remove the bi-xenons in the configurator. I probably overlooked something, as I was playing around with it at work.

From what guesswork I can go by right now, just about all the options I'm after will be available here, with the exception of the retractable towbar and the auto-highbeams. I can live without the latter, but the former is annoying. But as long as I get my ACCs (adaptive cruise control and adaptive chassis control), my cornering headlights and the missus gets her sunroof, I'm happy enough. Just get the bloody model on the Aus market already! Here I am with money in my pocket and they don't want it!

PS: Been actually trying to slog my way through the Bureaucratese of the ADR that covers towbars and not only does it say nothing about the inadmissability of retractable towbars, it specifically lists the European standards (e.g. ECE 55 etc al) that are equivalent and permitted in Australia. You would hope that VW would meet appropriate European standards (especially as German standards generally exceed them).

I thought the BiXenons masked... smart highbeams, (otherwise known as "main beam assist") is switching relevant for dipping halogens not masking Xenons...

I would love to retro main beam assist... anyone on top of that?

I think that you would need to change the headlights and retrofit the camera that i think it uses. probably mega $$$.

i do however know all the part numbers to retrofit cargo mangement system.

No, just picked one from the boat.. production week 26 car so this ship should be the earliest coming in.

Only thing is that it has walnut inserts which although not a deal breaker for me will make it kind of a different feel but I should be able to live with it !

The spec list includes "R2X" (RNS 510 satellite navigation system), yippee. Although I don't notice a 3 digit code for the electric tailgate.. oh well, will see when it comes in and let you all know.

Nice, I ordered one. The car should come with rns510, auto tailgate and rvc if it is my13.

might just add that the car that i purchased was the v6 which is probably fairly obvious looking at the price.

Just following up on this. If you have the driver visibility kit then you already have the camera for dynamic light assist as it uses the same camera for lane assist and also street sign detection.

That camera is on can bus and the control unit for cornering light is also capable of headlight range control so... all you need are the two headlights. they are about $800 each. must speak with my ministeress of finance... only need headlights to enable DLS.

Also the camera mentioned above for lane assist can do street sign detection, right now, I believe that it can only do euro signs but it might be possible that it can figure out au speed signs.. would be an interesting test to code an australian car for it.

Wow. That's a lot more than the v6 FSI version. Is the performance of the diesel better or is just fuel efficiency and a bit more torque? I drove FSI petrol and like performance
