That camera is on can bus and the control unit for cornering light is also capable of headlight range control so... all you need are the two headlights. they are about $800 each. must speak with my ministeress of finance... only need headlights to enable DLS.

Also the camera mentioned above for lane assist can do street sign detection, right now, I believe that it can only do euro signs but it might be possible that it can figure out au speed signs.. would be an interesting test to code an australian car for it.
      Hi

I have the driver visibility pack on my car..are you saying that getting it to do dynamic light assist is just via VCDS coding?

No, the headlights are about $800 each. Are you able to provide me with a vcds scan at all on your vehicle so i can look at the modules. trying 100% confirm what camera is mounted.

Ok I have an appointment with FSI220 one weekend to do some scans.
Is the headlight different from the Vis pack Bixenon?
I would have though it's the same?

            Unfortunately not.

Lights that we get are "headlight for cornering light (left-hand traffic only)"
            left 3AC 941 753
            right 3AC 941 754

Lights with DLC are "gas discharge headlight with dynamic main beam light control (left-hand traffic only)"
            left 3AC 941 043
            right 3AC 941 044

This is research that I have done in ETKA. I have a guy on Poland sending me a set of the dlc lights.

Ok. I might just wait to get those things in
My next car. I'm now understanding things
I need in car as my to haves in the next car.
I got to drive the Lincoln Mks in the USA with DLC and it's
Pretty good on those long highway runs. So I will have to
Add the DLC on my list

I belive that alltrack will have DLC. CC will have it next after that and I guess in 2014, passat will be lucky last.

Here it is. Confirmation of what we all knew.

                  Volkswagen upgrades Passat

Volkswagen Group Australia has announced a 2013 model year Passat featuring two significant upgrades that will be fitted as standard across the range – satellite-navigation and a reversing camera.

The giant German importer says the free extras are valued at $3000 and will be available in MY13 Passats here from next month.

The Passat’s new infotainment system, dubbed RNS510, comprises a high-resolution touch-screen display, a 30GB hard-drive that can store music and navigation data, and SD card and DVD slots for audio playback. The sat-nav system also features voice recognition.

With 3127 sales and an eight per cent share of its segment, the Volkswagen Passat is Australia’s fourth highest selling mainstream mid-size car so far in 2012, behind Toyota’s Camry (12,723, 32.4%), Honda’s Accord Euro (4867, 12.4%) and the Mazda6 (3797, 9.7%).

For the month of July 2012, Passat recorded strong sales of 581 units, making it the second most popular medium car after the Camry and Volkswagen Australia Managing Director, Anke Koeckler, said the free MY13 upgrades will further improve the Passat’s appeal.

“That means this will be a customer advantage of around $3000 and, guess what, we're not going to increase the prices,” she said. “So the entry-level model is the Passat 118TSI seven-speed DSG at $38,990. That is right now the price, and will be the price from the model year 2013 and onwards.”

Ms Koeckler said the rear-view camera was a “big safety issue” for the brand, but admitted another reason for the upgraded equipment levels was to keep the car in line with market expectations.

“We are always following what's happening in the market and the beginning of this year we were looking at what the competitors were doing,” said Ms Koeckler.

“We always wanted to take the next step with the rear-view camera but it was not affordable when we launched the Passat [in late 2011].”

In addition, the MY13 Passat wagon adds an auto opening/closing tailgate to its standard equipment list, while range-topping MY13 Passat V6 FSI models get steering wheel gearshift paddles as standard.

MY13 Volkswagen Passat pricing (plus on-road costs):

                  Passat 118TSI seven-speed DSG - $38,990
                  Passat 125TDI Highline six-speed DSG - $43,990
                  Passat V6 FSI Highline six-speed DSG - $55,990
                  Passat 118TSI Wagon seven-speed DSG - $40,990
                  Passat 125TDI Wagon Highline six-speed DSG - $45,990
                  Passat V6 FSI Wagon Highline six-speed DSG - $57,990

Thanks. Do you know what one should expect for on road costs in NSW or Victoria for MY13 V6 Highline Wagon?

Prices are inclusive of GST, I just looked at my invoice for MY13 and it is 52608.25 ex gst for the V6 Wagon.

Is Australia ever likely to see Colour MFD & KESSY on the Passat?

C'mon VWA, these have been available in o'seas markets as std & you can't even have them as built to order options here?? If you did, you may be surprised with how many buyers would take them up.

Some of the other goodies we don't see, such as DLC (dynamic light control), would be droolworthily nice too . . .

Thanks. How did you manage to buy an MY13 before the 'MY13 pricing was announced'?

For now I'll settle for VWA to pull their finger out and get the Alltrack on the market in just about *any* configuration! I mean, NEW ZEALAND has it for cryin' out loud! I really don't get what the hold-up is, apart from being certain that marketing drones are somehow involved.

I'll grumble about lack of some of the smart goodies then.

                              Mike

PS: KESSY is one of those things I'm wary of. Part of my job description - in IT security I'm paranoid by nature. Keyless entry systems *have* been successfully and somewhat shockingly easily been hacked. Interesting example for BMW here.

CC and EOS have kessy. I have DLC headlights on their way from poland to fit onto the passat wagon and also have 2 colour mfd clusters sitting just beside me now. I will put one up for sale about mid november if anyone is interested.
