Well that's an interesting development.... thanks for the info!
If you option it with the Adaptive Chassis Control it should give you a pretty sporty drive.... it just won't have the R36 dress ups. But the highline seats are f-n awesome.

I can do without the R36 aesthetic dress ups, it’s the performance parts I want! Also, wasn't really a fan of the R36 bucket seats - I presume the highline seats are completely different?

The highline seats are the same as the passat CC

Re: Passat CC V6 AWD, my wife hates the back end. "It looks like a squashed alien"...
RE: 2011 Passat R - I have read that VW are / are not producing any more R36s in different places. How positive are we all that there will be no more produced? To hear that VW are no longer producing a Passat R surprises me, as:
1. I thought VW’s goal was to have an R series for each Production model;
2. The R36 has been VW’s fastest Production vehicle.
I will be disappointed if there isn’t a 2011 Passat R, that may take me away from the VW brand...
Really? i think the passat CC is an amazing all round looker. everyone is different thank god else we would all be driving corollas.
AND the CC w 3.6 V6 AWD is in fact quicker than the R36...... yes, it's true. due largely to the weight difference (approx 100kg's i think).

With no more produced. If you want one then "your spec" will always be a compromise on what is available. A bit of flexibility maybe needed.
Yeah, I guess. Problem is everything in stock is over my spec, thus increasing the price. I want Leather trim (seats also, if possible), RNS 510, Sun Roof - that is all. my local Vdub dealer was (a couple or months back) able to find cars with this spec, however they also had adaptive cruise control, better sound package, reverse camera...
pretty sure that the CC and the R36 is the same speed 0-100 but the CC is more areo dynamic, but also has softer suspensions (even on sports mode) that is why the R36 is faster on the track.
What really turned me off on the R36 compared to the CC is the door trim. too much hard plastic and i am not a big fan of the seats either. otyher than that i intented to buy a R36 until i saw the CC
I love the look of Passat CC but without an option to add 3rd rear seat, I'd probably won't ever buy it even if I can afford it...
You can now order a CC with an optional 3rd rear seat.
However, I'd order a new 3.6 V6 Passat instead. I quite like the look of the new ones. Be a good $10K cheaper than a R36 as well.
