So the dealers are going to sell Passats with no air in the tyres

Seriously its interesting tech and if the next Passat R is made perhaps it will be the reliable 2.0T or a 3.0 V6 Supercharged like the Audi S4

Latest info and opinion on the New Passat

      Hi to all,

not sure how reliable this site is but if true, the bad news is that there won't be a hot Passat R36 replacement in any hurry. The good news I guess is that ours will hold their value.

they are also ugly and people simply don't understand them (when they look at them). Not to mention a higher cost. I reckon we'll be in hover cars before these ever go into mass production.
          [/QUOTE]

i read the production ones will have sidewall like regular tyres so will look "normal".

Much better concept than runflats: a mail etc wont mean the oend of the tyre.
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

That's not what the article says... It says "The petrols are tipped to be the 1.4 TSI and 1.8 TSI, the turbodiesels will be 1.6 and 2.0 TDIs, and the 3.6-litre V6 R36 is expected to be dropped from the line-up."

There will still be an .:R Passat. How it will put it's power down is yet to be determined although I reckon you can expect big improvements. I think (and this is just my opinion) VW are in a much better position to take the challenge closer to the likes of the BMW, Mercedes and Audi in terms of mid-sized sports saloon. Interesting times ahead I reckon.

That's the new Phaeton. The new Passat is as per PassatB6's post.

I think its a little to early to make judgments about its looks but the Passat's demographic is generally older than the Golf and Polo though it has wide appeal.

They still don't look like official VW photos and until we see those, there's no telling what it will look like imo. The spy pics that had the covers on the front and rear look at whole lot like the current model with likely some model aligning updates for nose and tail styling and new mirrors but still the same car. Those two pics are not the current car.
