looks like CC wheels and side mirrors? Still looks like lots of bonnet overhang at the front. On the issue of towing, I hope the cost of fitting a towbar comes back to reality in the new model....but i doubt it. After being qauted almost $3k, i opted to pay many many delivery fees at approx $60 each over the 4 year lease.V6Passat

It's just an update to bring the overall styling in line with other models.
It's the same car with revised front and rear end treatments, revised mirrors. Will most likely update the HVAC and steering wheel as well. But that's where it'll stop. Oh apart from revised engine/gearbox combinations - they'll probably be different too.
Will be interesting to see it uncovered actually. I'd liken it to what the Golf V to VI update did for the golf.

Not sure about the R36 in the future.
With the R32 moving to an R20 setup, it is most likely the R36 will also downgrade but may use a twin charge system on a 2L engine to get decent power.
Will be interesting to see what happens though.

It looks very similar to the old one in basic outline shape. The wheels look exactly the same as the Laguna wheels on my Passat CC! To be honest (and perhaps a few of you will disagree) I cannot understand why the Passat CC shape could not be the foundation of the entire Passat range. I even saw a spy (concept?) shot of a CC wagon somewhere which looked promising.sigpicMY10 Passat CC V6 - RNS510, GPS, RVC, self park, dynaudio, cooling seats!

Full set of spy shots and some artist impression renderings
Hi to all,
visit this link for the full spy shot collection and some artistSpy Shots: 2012 Volkswagen Passat, Gallery 1 - MotorAuthority impression renderings on what it may look like without the covers.
My guess on engines will be the 3.0 litre super charged jobbie out of the Audi, although VW has a habit of doing their own thing.Billcat: R36 09 Biscay blue sedan, sunroof, satnav, bluetooth, Ipod connection and tints - Love that car!!

I like this bit..
Expected to debut in late 2011 as a 2012 model, the next-generation Passat is tipped to feature a host of new technologies, including airless tires, a wiperless window cleaning system, and an advanced user interface. There may also be an electronic stability system with a feature that automatically offers counter-steering assistance in adverse driving conditions.
One year after the launch of the Passat sedan will be the station wagon. This will be followed closely by a new high-performance model to replace the current R36.B6 Passat Wagon No KESSY

That was more than an implication! Love my VWs but id never talk my mrs into buying one. Reliability isnt the topic of the thread anyways. Its new features. Im sure VW would build in some sort of failsafe to such systems. I was more implying that I would rather drive a car than a car drive me.
Getting back on topic. The airless tyre bit intrigues me. Im guessing theyre not just referring to runflats. Anyone heard anything more on that bit?

Would cost a potload to replace when they wear down though.
