    Final Post

Well went out and had a look at different options as previously mentioned (ML320, RR Sport, BMW X5, VW Toureg).

After some discussion and driving a couple of the cars, we have decided to keep the R36.

I am going to invest in some protective rubber for the boot and rear bumper, feel all will be ok.

Had we gone down the SUV track, I think the Merc would have been the best option for us. BMW X5 - not impressed, RR Sport - 2.7TDI grossly underpowered , but easily the best looking car, VW Toureg - Interior a bit drab, boot space not impressive. Merc was beautiful inside, had the best engine of the cars, and looked good.

I hear the MY10 RR Sport has a new 3L engine, so when the lease on the R36 comes up in 2011 perhaps it will be an option....
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

Focus on the R36's for sale in your home state. Not as many sales are interstate and lazyness will dictate that most people would spend $2-3k more for your car if its already registered and they can just drive and see it and test it easily.
