          Obviously your cars boot lid (safety triangle area) does not look like the pictures in the following (refer to picture no.1);

...which I have made reference to previously.

Because if it did, you would know what the silver trim piece is in the boot lining underneath the safety triangle bracket / holder.

Maybe this is for the US market only? Just trying to find out.

Maybe the guys on vortex might be able to help me on this one.

You say yours was factrory, then you say it wasn't in there at time of delivery? I am confussed.
Did it still come with the Black Plastic Holder and just no Safety Triangle.
Or did it have neither? Because if it had neither, that would lead me to believe that these were not fitted at all in any OZ spec Passat's.

LOL, I just wanted someone in the know to check if this was on there car too.

Well mine didn't have one when I picked it up. Compained to the sales guy so he gave me the one out of the CC on the lot.

              How is it mounted?

Or did he just give it to you loose?

I think Id ne happy to get one loose or aftermarket even and mount or use when needed.

There is a place for it in the bootlid or Tailgate! See the pics earlier in this thread

                  Here is the "How To"...

                  Here are the pics.

                  1) With the "silver trim piece", photot courtesy of vortex (US)

                  2) My car.

So once again, question is, is the silver trim piece on OZ delivered cars?

OK that means our cars are different because that American thread showed guys removing boot liners to INSTALL the holder.

That means that our models are supposed to have them installed unlike the American ones.

All boot lid liners have the ressed area for the mounting, some remove this to aid in installation. That was not needed to install.

AFAIK all Passats come with the mounting setup. Some just don't come with a triangle.

                          Here's how mine came...

And then I complained to the sales guy the triangle was missing so he gave me the one out of the CC...

NFI what that silver bit is meant to be for but it certainly doesn't actually serve a functional purpose.

Thanks, I now assume that the silver trim piece is probably only a US Market thing. All good!

I have enquired about getting a warning triangle from my local dealer, and they are offering me a good discount. I am just confirming whether or not she is happy for me to extend that price to others, but is anyone else interested in getting one? Price before discount is about $125.

Part number (from ETKA) is 3C5 860 251 for the sedan. Not sure on the wagon... I will see if I can find out.
