Thank you for the reply. Looks like V3 has done to trick
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

Good to see all these reports.
The unit in my Tiguan has had this problem in the same places along the F3 since I got it in late December.
When I complained to the dealer, they said they couldn't reproduce it.
I wonder if it's the digital TV repeater towers around Somersby / Warnervale. It's possible that they sometimes transmit what the RNS510 interprets as a reboot command.
It would account for the slight variation in where it occurs - sometimes outside the twin servos and sometimes at Ourimbah.
It is getting worse though. It's now every weekend I go to Warnervale. Back in January it was 3 out of 4 trips.
Anyway, thanks for the thread, I'll pursue this with the dealer.

Looks like the way they encoded the maps in previous version caused a crash...
it's common problem, either corrupt map data, or bug in the firmware of the gps unit.

I had this fixed with an updated firmware just 2 weeks ago ago experiencing this after getting my car 1 mth ago. All fixed now. get the update from the dealer, VW knows this problem and issued a fix.

Had this issue happen to me today.. Not sure what to do as i sourced my own and retrofitted the RNS510 and so VWA will not just replace my unit if need be.

Does anyone have any solutions before going to the dealer?

What Map Version do you have?

Fixed the issue by upgrading the firmware. Rang my dealer and they will update to v3 for me!

It's a problem to do with that area of the mapping. Nothing to do with the length of the drive, I told them of the problem and they already new about it. Updated me to v3 maps no questions asked and haven't had a problem since.

Sorry, didnt see your reply, im running v2 atm, the car is going in on thursday for a service and they will update to v3 as I mentioned. But it was very frustrating driving home with the RNS constantly resetting!

Hmmm I just took delivery of a Golf GTI yesterday. I drove from Paramatta back up to the central coast. All was fine til I hit the Terrigal area and it started locking up and trying to reboot itself. It's bad between Terrigal and Tuggerah from what I have driven today... which is very unfortunate as I live in this bemuda triangle!

The dealer at Paramatta insists they put V3 of the maps on. Is it some combination of the right map software and the right firmware that is required to solve the problem?

Have it booked in at VW Gosford to take a look. Very annoying and pretty much spoiled my maiden voyage.

I'm thinking that you have V2 maps...drove through the same area twice last month with no problems at all.

I hope that's all it is. Is there a way to tell if I have v2 or v3 myself?

Just had V3 loaded to my CC last month at Denlo Parramatta. On my way to and from the Hunter Valley the RNS510 crashed around Wyong (happened to me before) so there still seems to be some sort of problem

Intersting you got "V3" at the same dealer as me and have an issue too. Maybe they have a mis-labeled disc or something.

Just posting to say I got my issue resolved today. Seems the dealer I bought from did not put V3 like they claimed and it was V2. (Passat CC I would bet you have V2 as well). They also didn't bother to set my DVD region. Really looking forward to getting the VW survey!
