Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      • Ok so... on my wife's MY18 Superb, she can kick under the car to open the boot, and then kick it again to close it. In the Arteon, it's only kick to open.

Anybody know if there's a way to change it so it's kick to close aswell?

as all the doors are normally under central electronics module I’d say you’d have to have a look round in that, (also translate from German)

I couldn't agree more. My god this needs to be configurable to user preference!!! So annoying.

            • Auto start/stop can't be configured to default off, because it is part of the spec which gets the vehicle its emissions rating.
              Cheers

"Dieselgate" was a joke. I actually agree with how they did it. They were told to pass a test, they did. So effing what?

As if the others don’t do it, merc use a pump to blow air down the exhaust to create less nasties to volume, wouldn’t say that’s a ethical fix

                      • And a replacement filter is:

                        MANN Frecious Plus Cabin Filter
                        Part number: FP 26 009

Looking at what this filter traps - no wonder it smells of fuel. Basically all the fuel smell in my car has been absorbed into this. After a day in the sun and open air, it smells less like fuel but I can still smell it. Might need a few days of doing this to clear it.

.....and I've bought a new filter. Don't ask me how but overnight the smell came back stronger. I think this filter is done. $47 on eBay and the new one should be here Wednesday.

So with that in mind - forget paying a VW dealership $100 or $150 or whatever it is they charge to replace the filter. Seriously.. $47 on eBay and it takes 10min to change yourself.

                          • Here is a thread that I made a while ago that might assist also, as the Artoen and Passat are VERY similar inside; http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...t=cabin+filter

Just for your info, the original Cabin Filter from VW Parts Part No: 5Q0819653 only costs about $30 and is available any day for pick up...

                            However I do understand that you are no longer using VW Parts and have gone with the MANN Filter;

                            MANN-FILTER Part Numbers:
                            CU26009 - Cabin Filter
CUK26009 - Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter (same as Genuine VW Part No: 5Q0819653)
FP26009 - Biofunctional Cabin Filter (SparesBox have this for sale at the moment)

You will have to let us know if the Biofunctional Cabin Filter makes a difference!!!
MY18 VW Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition + Panoramic Sunroof + some extra goodies... (Pure White)
MY17 ŠKODA Superb 206TSI 4x4 + Sunroof + Tech Pack + Comfort Pack + some extra goodies... (Moon White)

Good to know those other part numbers! Yeah the Mann biofunctional cabin filter is what I pulled out. So the FP26009 one is what was in there from the factory ($47 from SparesBox). So I just bought an exact replacement.

It's really weird because the filter has 2 sides (a white side where air comes in, and a yellow side where the air leaves the filter). It's the yellow side (where it looks like there's a charcoal membrane) that smells like it has been soaked in fuel. So this just captured up all that smell in my car and is now holding it.

Taking the filter out and running the aircon and there's no smell at all. So it's definitely the filter.

                              • Saw an Arteon (and a Tiguan) with the new progressive indicator LEDs over the weekend. Hopefully they'll make it to all modes soon. They look awesome!
