Hi readers/members. I have just read a letter in Victoria's Royalauto magazine that suggests VW have a problem supplying a tow bar that adequately supports the tow capabilities of the vehicle. Can anyone shed more light on this issue for me?

On the new Touareg, there were supply issues regarding the wiring kits, as the orinal kit made for them didn't work with some functions on the cars. This has since been rectified. There was another concern, where people were fitting the previous model's towbar. While it does in fact bolt up, it is of the incoreect capacity.'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI

If you want a towbar for Treg, check out Hayman Reese towbar which is rated at 3500kg/350kg and costs about half that of the VW Treg towbar ... and the hitch receiver faces horizontally unlike the current VW towbar which faces vertically (such that you cannot fit a hitch-mounted bike rack)Regards,

I Do not suggest using after market. If you have most options like auto rear tailgate and adaptive cruise all these electrics are incorporated and coded specifically to the vehicle this can only be done 100% at Volkswagen during installation.
