that's really one of the most satisfying things they can say, especially when they are trained to notice the subtle differences.
Have had major problems with the air con, something I neglected to fully try on purchasing, but damm the misus tried it as soon as I got it home and was peaking to put it mildly.
Scanned the car and got a code referring to the signal between the fan and module.
The new control module finally arrived and was slightly different but vagcomed it and nothing, same old problem.
Mad I was.
So out came the tools and out with the dash, thinking that there had to be problems with the flaps or an obstruction somewhere, studying the PDF for the hvac I couldn't find the top 3 servo motors, but they are mounted on the other side on our rhd Australian touaregs. I removed the centre vent and diffuser and could see most of the flaps moving and could feel the cold air passeges changing.
Motor out again spins up fine out of the housing , changes through the range, damm it getting real angry now.
Then with a stroke of luck I found a post from another Aussie Adam aka gympitreg on Club Touareg
In which he found out that lhd and rhd fan housings are different and at further investigation the fans faced the other way , wham like a bolt of lightning it hit me.i was always suspect of the fan as I could see it had been changed and had some slight scoring .
So the previous owner had done a half job and just changed the internals for a lhd motor.
So quick fix I reversed the polarity and ran the fan backwards and to the wife's pleasure it's blowing, obviously not 100% but enough to cool the car,and with a rhd fan It will rock.
Rns2 and module out and the double din surround, you need to remove it to wedge out the spring clips for the control module.
Half the car it was , with the lower section of the centre vent removed I could see the flaps moving
There's the bastard right there.and the rest of the system shoehorned in there.
The new control module was slightly different , had ac on the second button instead of Econ so I changed the facias over.
Nice scratch free face plate.

Not without some encouragement and field work from my right hand man.
It was a good day , she can now get excited about the car, it was like she could finally enjoy it.
And to boot I've sourced a rhd fan to swap out with the existing lhd nemesis.
