Ramee I am convinced you are crazy but I like it, 4500 is a bit hard to hide. I see your point and think it might be better to save up for a couple of months and go straight to K04.
on the K04 upgrades does this seriously effect the car over time? I plan to keep this car for a while and don't want to risk major break downs in the future. I see you get upto 250kw from k04 with mods (thanks Sharkie)that's huge!
i am ver interested in the down pipe pm me the price if you can mate!
would like to meet up and discuss more at some stage. I live in Bentleigh east.
Thanks
Sb
K04 is same as factory fit on R's! That's the beauty of the Tig - same basic engine/drivetrain/awd setup as R in most ways but "beefed up" to handle extra weight. And the DQ500 DSG is more than capable of handling the extra ponies (and torque)

^ well its actually a completely different engine to the Golf R, but the 2.0TSI used in the Tig, Mk6 GTI etc is a pretty strong motor still and can take K04 (and more) power without raising a sweat.
Hi Lucas,
Took a while but I knew I'd get a bite eventually
Should've qualified my statement - very similar to previous gen. The MkVII is totally different kettle of fish I agree, and much improved! Can't wait 'till they bring out the next gen Tig on MQB platform
Yes, it is awesome clip SB - and awesome cars in whatever form.....

I just did drop the bomb shell haven't I ? Anyway to answer to some of your questions about reliability of the engine and transmission etc, yes one thing you have to understand about moding game is that you got to pay to play. Harder you play harder you pay.
These engines of Tigs have never basically designed from the factory for K04 or big turbo level of power, so it may last long time or simple thing like valve spring or rod bearing can cause catastrophic failure of the engine. Also 4 wheel drive system can cause lot of strain on the transmission and engine itself because there*can only be very little wheel spin to release any excessive torque generated from the tune. GTI guys are lucky in this regard because their wheel slip threshold is low so extra torque can always be released via wheel slip.
So yes excessive power will always affect the engine, transmission and whole system ( drivetrain, suspention etc etc) but good thing is you have the choice of using newfound power when only needed. For example if you upgrade your car power to beat a Lambogini it would be awesome but it will never last as the Lambo if you drive both at near max power all the time.

Unfortunately Ramee I have made the choice to aim for stage two and not go for turbo upgrade, I figured with 4500 I can do other things beside I don't think I need a 250kw monster.
if I can reach 200kw then I am happy, with this in mind it's time to look at the best way to get to the top of stage two. Best practices and choices to be made if you guys were me with a aim to the best stage two with $2500 what would you do and what order will you do in?
i am know there are pitfalls to avoide and the best way is to asks those who have fallen in them
with the other $2000 I will do bling and suspension.
hope everyone has a good weekend. Please keep an eye out for a down pipe!

Yeah, that is a wise choice. 2.5K is a acceptable goal for stage 2 but you have to choose stuff carefully. Careful Choosing of hardware and software (tunning company) is most important to achieve your power goals with in the given budget.
Stage 2 require DP and a intake but these are expensive if you are looking for band new stuff. Assuming you select APR as your tunner you got about 1K remaining to spend on hardware. I got my intake second hand ( carbonio intake) for 300 dollers and custom made my DP for 900 bucks. You may also import one from techtronics tunning in US for same or less amount of money. Other option is to keep an eye on tigger73 DP as he may put his car back to stock in an year or so time
Sorry I couldn't help you with DP because my spare DP is a stock DP with first cat hollowed out so fitting it to your car may not provide maximum benefit you expect from a proper 3 inch DP. I suggested about it because I thought it could be helpful to you to have minimum requirements to run a K04 with acceptable power. I.e. without getting low output file.

You'll have to wait until I can find a suitable replacement for the Tig before you can have my parts Though I'm still 6-12 months away at the earliest (unless my accountant tells me otherwise). It's going to be a hard thing to find a replacement which is a little bigger and with similar performance/capability without paying a lot more $.
Agree absolutely that you should get flappy paddles with a DSG. I think it's an oversight that they don't have them when it's so simple to add them on in the factory.
The nice thing about the R wheel is it's flat bottom which I like.
do you know anyone that can do [COLOR=#333333]VCDS to enable the paddles?
If you plan on keeping this car for a while (as you said) then I would highly recommend buying your own VCDS for convenience. The microCAN is only US$249 + US$70 shipping (though the HEX-CAN for $349 is better if you ever want to work on other peoples cars, family etc. the microCAN is not compatible with modern VW Polo and a few others. Just a thought)
It's great for reading error codes, resetting error codes if you ever disconnect the battery etc, mods like adding mirror puddle lights, door warning lights, rns510 satnav. Will pay for itself in no time. (Especially since VW dealer charges $150 for 'diagnostic' if you ever get a 'drive to workshop' warning)

+1 to this, anyways I have the cable and can do it for you but I haven't done this before since I don't have flappy paddles. l live in Dandenong North. PM me when you get the wheel. But if you like professional install ( since airbag stuff ) go to Faststuff or Volkspower and ask from Dean to install this for you. Or any VW specialist will do this easily.

You should get some! There are many on eBay from mexico, I did PM some of them and best price I got was US$410 including shipping, this was for flat bottom GLI wheel with red stitches. Black stitches cost a lot more though, like 600-800. /thread hijack
