  • Safferbogun's 155tsi

Hi all, picked up my new baby today! Little bit of history, this is my 4 VW and the first that's not a golf. When I started looking into trading the Audi my aim was fixed on a golf R but my wife gently convinced me over a month period to get something a little more family friendly (we have one 2 yo and not planning on more) at first I was not happy but me search found the answer when I found the Tig. With bit of research I found this site and great contributions from blokes like tigger73 and Sharkie got me convinced to go for a test drive... I was instantly in love!

Unbeknownst to my wife I had found a compromise thats more in my favour with the plans I have. Due to smuggling of funds to turn my Tig into an R this build will be done over a year or so.

    The car:

    2012 Tiguan 155tsi, reflex silver, factory 18"
    34,000km

    Planned mods (in this order)

Stage 1 APR within the next two weeks
    Towbar
No plans on new wheels yet, I like the stock ones 18".... For now
    Down pipes and stage 2
    Haldex
    Slightly lowered
    DSG tune
    sound system upgrade

Somewhere along the way I want some body mods.

I don't mind the power from the 155 engine but as I wanted an R I want this to now have more power than an R. I don't think I will go past stage 2 but never say never!

As I am new I am open to suggestions and advice, in fact I welcome it!

It's going to be slow but I'll try and be thorough with as much detail and picks as possible

Thanks guys I have gone through all 4 your builds recently Ramee's, awesome work!

spent and hour sitting in the garage configuring all my settings and pondering a plan to skim $1300 for ARp 15% off sale from our budget.

            will add some picks tomorrow.

Just a suggestion, as you are looking to upgrade the performance and since there is a chance of going beyond stage 2, I would recommend K04 upgrade and skip Stage 1 and 2. This will save you lot of money because the money you spend on stage 1 will not be able to get back if you go for K04. and stage 2 will not give huge jump on power.

So simple math is Stage 1 costing 1400 plus downpipe and tune costing another 1500 will addd up to near 3000 dollers. But if you jump straight to K04 only 4500 but will still get more power than stage two and later can upgrade to more power with supporting mods. Also APR K04 V3.1 is going to be crazy. If you need a Harding performance modified stock down pipe let me know I have a spare one, it was on a K04 Tig before

+1 what Ramee said. Plan out your end point before you start can save you paying twice.

But if all you're after is stock Golf R performance out of a Tig you'll get it with a stage 2 tune.

I'm just wondering why you need two down-pipes Ramee. Did you have plans to go twin-turbo????

Ramee I am convinced you are crazy but I like it, 4500 is a bit hard to hide. I see your point and think it might be better to save up for a couple of months and go straight to K04.

on the K04 upgrades does this seriously effect the car over time? I plan to keep this car for a while and don't want to risk major break downs in the future. I see you get upto 250kw from k04 with mods (thanks Sharkie)that's huge!

i am ver interested in the down pipe pm me the price if you can mate!

would like to meet up and discuss more at some stage. I live in Bentleigh east.

                          Thanks

the Tig is a bit lazy when you pull away but I have seen this throughout the forums before I bought it so it's not unexpected.

You won't regret it - is more practical (and capable IMO with a few mods) vehicle than the Golf-R
I too love the colour (same as my Tiggy).....
