No splicing. In the skoda the fusebox end was part of pre-wiring. All I had to do on the Yeti was work from the red pre-wired plug to the trailer connector at the tow hitch.
Sounds like I've only done half a job on the Tiguan?
Do I still ignore the long loom or is it needed (all or in part) at the fuse box?

No, all you need from the kit is the control unit and the loom from it to the trailer plug.

Many thanks for the advice. I'll now try and understand the splicing required. Leaning toward a plug modification rather than a cut and splice. Why it doesn't come with a parallel socket I don't understand.
Found the little suckers as described a couple of pages ago thankyou.

I've just received the Tiguan towing harness. For my Tiguan What do you do with all the extra. Harness. Just store it in the side panel. Do I need to tape up any connections that are bare I know it's only the red plug that needs to be connected But. There's. A hell of a lot of wiring left over. And of cause the three wires under the dash to be connected. ? Thanks.

Red connector goes into the control module.

Other short harness goes into the other slot in the control module, then out to the 13-pin round trailer plug.

                It doesn't get used.

Pretty much all you need out of the wiring kit is the control module and the short harness.

Solved the problem. Apparently the 13 pin trailer plug has two pins for the tail lights The 7 pin adaptor only connects to one now it's either pin 5 or 7
So I bought a 13 pin to 7 and now the tail light all work .

                              trunk lining removal

I have been looking around for some photos of how the trunk lining comes out so I can fit the module.

Does any one have any tips?
