      • I will be going for different path either K04 Q3 or MK7 golf R (st 2/3). Much more sensible options given my circumstances and both will be capable of low 12s for quarter.

The guy owns half a dozen modern Skodas. The Yeti is one of his track toys. There's a certain level of irony in what he is doing that I wouldn't expect a VW owner to understand.

He also has a Citigo being built with a 1.8. It will be even more track focussed than the Yeti.

Skoda has a lot better reputation in the UK than VW.

          • After long time into the forum. Just an update to the build thread about the Tig. Yesterday it completed its 60000 km/ 3 year major service. No repairs as such except new brakes and battery. Tig is running great without skipping a beat so far and can give run for its money for A45 AMGs.

            • Hi Ramee, that's very encouraging to hear. How many A45s have you challenged? Is it the new version with 280kw and 475nm? I can imagine the K04 would put up a good fight or perhaps beat it if the conditions were favorable.

              • Favourable conditions? Like the AMG was parked or something? Im sorry but the Merc would blow a Tiguan's doors off. I had a Golf R that was stage 2+ and wouldn't have even tried to run an A45 for fear of being beaten.

                • He would beat it 'cos he would catch the A45 driver snoozin'.

                  You snooze you lose

K04 Tiguan is definitely a bit of a sleeper. But yes if you lined them up you'd probably need a bit more than a K04 Tig to take the honours.

I was thinking if the k04 tig used lc and if a45 went normally from a standing start it would be interesting. I drove an a45 and off the line without lc there was lag, the popping of the exhaust when shifting was nice but it was not earth shatteringly fast.

Giving it a go is part of the fun lucas_r, even if you do lose at least you work out the real world performance of your car and its limitations. Sometimes you need to face your fears

                    • Yes I didn't say Tiguan won But There was nothing I mean nothing, say 20 to 120km/h race. At one point on third gear I was pulling on to him even to the point I got scared I may hit his rear bumper. Race went like this, we start from the dig and he had the jump start and he pulled away about two cars ahead of me. Then I could keep up with him from second gear all the way up to third and even close the gap some point. Yes Tig has less power but it got more torque from 4000 rpm and up.

It wouldn't take much to beat a A45 Lucus just get a new golf r with stage 1.

It is the older version not the new one. Yes you are right Tig has bit of a lag but it can put up a fight against A45.

Actually the break was only fairly short - about 3 months. Though the new Tig is now my wife's car so I only drive it on the odd occasion. Still stock at the moment, though it has done a "before" dyno run just in case.... haha

Yes and I have reposted some stuff on that stupid fast Yeti in the UK - great inspiration!!!

The kit I was looking at was bit expensive about 900 AUD from US when landed here. But fortunately I found a kit for sale in sales section for half the price and jumped for the opportunity Kit was from forum member Dr freedom and it was band new! Great guy excellent communications and a very fast shipping (did i just wrote an Ebay feedback! haha)

My first look at the package. Only took out one piece from the parcel and I am satisfied. All OEM quality is there compared to the kit I got from aftermarket manufacture.

                                Kit has 8 pieces altogether.

And lots of fasteners and plastic pieces as well + instruction manual in many languages.
